Quick Slant...

sadly...garrett just does not understand that.

terrell owen's strength is the slant and crossing routes.

garrett thinks his strength is a double team fly route or a double reverse.

he's also keen on the 1 yard bubble screen.

Ah yes, the bubble screen........all the rage in today's NFL.

why can't we line up 2 WRs on the same side as Witten....

Have Witten run a 5 yd In. Have the Crayton run a 10 yd Out. Have Williams run a 10 yd In. On the other side, have TO run a 15 yd crossing route.

Witten on one side with Williams on the outside. TO in the slot on the other side. Crayton goes in motion from TO's side to Witten's side. TO does a 10 yd out. Witten does a 5 yd crossing route. Williams runs a go route. This should leave Crayton wide open and he runs a short out and turns it up for at least a 10 to 15 yd gain.

Wait, no...stop...you're thinking like a coach. That isn't allowed on Sundays with this team :laugh2:

He doesnt call it often, but Ginger called it last game and TO dropped it in the endzone. That is no excuse to never call it again, as it should be quite effective, but dont be mistaken, Ginger has called it recently.

There should be a minimum of 4 slants per game, at least 3 of them to TO.

Why? Its not like he has shown any propensity to catch the ball with someone on him.

Throw them to Roy, or split Witten out wide (like the Bears do Olsen) and throw it to them.

We've tried them a whole bunch this year and they never work.

I would not say a whole bunch but when we have Romos timing and accuracy has been off.

I can't recall ever seeing one thrown, but I do recall a ton of sideline routes being thrown, usually for a 5 yard gain.

Then you cant remember what happened 4 days ago.

We'd need to pass from under center more often and use 1 and 3 step drops... Not gonna happen.

The only two slants I remember were INTs. One by Johnson in the first Giants game and one by Romo in the 2nd Commanders game. Both to TO.

Screw four I'd prefer 6-10. Roy Williams is a big WR also and gifted he can handle them things also. Once they start jumping the slants we hit them with a slant and go and it's money. We can't simply heave it up 30 yards down the field while their safeties are playing so far off of the ball.

I want them to run more than one, not necassarily to TO, but at least to RW.

Garrett does get credit for running one in the Baltimore game though. Owens ran a slant on the first pass of the game his way that he dropped in th endzone. Choice scored one play later.

Your right Red CAN do it. Tony CAN NOT. He is not a good slant thrower. Go back and watch early games when it was occasionally thrown in it is almost always behind the receiver, too low or get deflected. Bash away folks but its the truth.

I scream this at the TV almost every week. Troy used to toss these to Michael all the time. :bang2:

no. everyone must go deep. every single play. even if it's 3rd and short. everyone must go deep.

After all, if its intercepted it's kind of like a punt. :(
