Quick thought on the PC today

I heard most of the press conference on the radio today on my way back from lunch, but just watched the video on DC.com. As we all know, Jerry's PCs can be a real circus at times as he cares more about being on camera than what he says on camera.

I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. It was relatively low-key and businesslike, as you'd expect from any other NFL team. Jerry sounded like a real GM and not just a promoter as he discussed the roster, certain players, the direction of the team, and of course the coach. Wade seemed more relaxed, confident, and -- yes -- coach-like than he has at some times in the past. Probably everyone knows that I like Wade more than most, but he's made me cringe at times in these press conferences, and I can honestly say that I think he's grown into this job a great deal from the day he got here. I really think he makes a good team with Jerry, as he doesn't mind Jerry being out front while Jerry has learned that he can trust Wade the "football man". I've never believed that Jerry was making wild decisions on his own in the past when it came to players and coaches, but instead got bad advice from the Campos and Lacewells of the world who were simply incompetent.

Anyway, just a thought that I think we've come a long way from only a couple of years ago when the Oxnard pre-training camp PC was about everything but football and turned into an embarrassing disaster of epic proportions. Now everyone seems secure in their roles and focused on the task at hand, which is improving this football team as much as possible in every area. Anything can happen in any one particular NFL year with injuries and bounces of the ball, but I really think this franchise is on the most solid footing it's been on in a long time.

I agree with you completely. There is an air of maturity on every level of this club that has not existed previously. I think that, though he is approaching 70, JJ has grown up. I got that feeling when he or his son or whomever cleaned house last year and it seems to have stuck.

The frenzied atmosphere is all but gone and the whole club seems peaceful and mature and focused. I like it.

Exactly. I have confidence in the GM, HC, and QB to handle their roles successfully. The only question mark is OC, and he had a good year, once he figured out how to balance all the pieces.

Did you notice the presser was done in the coaches room.

This is where all the posters and signs are up from Wade.

Great observation CL.

I am still bitter about the loss but I still have hope. Hopefully, our offseason gives us all more hope for the future.

Jerry in leather was pretty damn scarry.

I got confused with his leather jacket on because it blended so well with the stretch job.

Jerry = bad-arse.

I thought Wade was good and Jerry was a lip-smacking, rambling mess.

I did like the urgency that both acknowledged. They aren't satisfied.

I fail to see the significance of this. Can you elaborate :confused:
