DE, wants based off teams need for Quick twitch scrappy hand fighting DE that motor never stops, am not listing the 1st 3 player of the position as they will probably all be off the board. these below we have a legitimate shot of getting:
NATE ORCHARD, DE, UTAH
Orchard is a high-motor player with a relentless approach off the edge. He outworks blockers at the point of attack and deftly uses a variety of hand-to-hand combat maneuvers to get around the corner. Although he lacks exceptional first-step quickness or athleticism, Orchard flashes the kind of closing burst and acceleration that allows him to gobble up quarterbacks from the backside. He is a monster when positioned in a "wide-9” alignment
DANIELLE HUNTER, DE, LSU
very long arms and plenty of room for additional muscle. His exciting combination of length, balance, awareness and agility helped him make plays against the run and pass.
Hunter's quickness allows him to dip under would-be blockers, beating them inside rather than relying on his length and strength to string run plays out wide, as tackles expect. He's aggressive and physical, showing a willingness to sacrifice his body uncommon for edge players with his body type.
One potential red-flag is Hunter's inconsistent get-off due to lack of conditioning.
ELI HAROLD, DE, VIRGINIA
STRENGTHS: Quick starter out of his stance with burst and long-striding acceleration. Launches himself like a track athlete from his three-point stance, keeping his pad level low with proper leverage.
Agile feet to sidestep blockers in space and terrific speed in pursuit to chase down ballcarriers. The motor never quits, always going full-speed to the ball until the whistle.
Does a nice job re-setting his eyes after his initial rush doesn't work, showing natural dip to turn the corner around the tackle without slowing down. He is at his best when using his length to extend, lock out and drive blockers backwards. Productive career with 24 starts under his belt.
WEAKNESSES: Lean and lanky build with average bulk and needs to develop his upper- and lower-body strength. Rushes too upright and needs to show more consistent bend. Average functional power and needs to more consistently avoid bodies near the line of scrimmage, too easily slowed by contact.
Better pass rusher than run defender and needs to do a better job holding the edge. Hand technique needs work to better stack-and-shed and untie himself from blockers. Hyperactive and needs to be more efficient with his movements to eliminate wasted momentum.
DEVONTE FIELDS, DE, TCU
He has above average athleticism for his size with excellent coordination and lower body flexibility to be quick off the ball and appear comfortable in space. Fields needs to develop his technique and strength and do a better job converting speed to power, but has the workable body type to continue and add muscle to his frame. His ball instincts are a tick late and on tape, but he beats blocks with his natural athleticism
ZA'DARIUS SMITH, DE, KENTUCKY
Tall, long and broad-shouldered with solid build on his frame, looking the part of a NFL defensive end. Initial burst out of his stance to win the edge and surprise blockers with quickness. Core power and length to set the edge with heavy hands and upper-body strength to shock blockers at the point of attack.
Aggressive swat/swim moves with active hands to work off blockers and keep himself free. Only average speed, but terrific effort each snap and fights through the whistle. Fiery competitor and plays with a passionate demeanor, always fired up.
