And then there's this gem from Sunday night.

Dallas ran 40 offensive plays.

New Orleans had 40 first downs.

That seems impossible in the NFL.

And add to that, the Cowboys defense is on pace to break their all-time yards allowed mark for a season....by 1,000 yards.

And they are still dismissing the all time bad with the idea they are still in first place.

Hoping two weeks is enough to get Carter ready at MLB and get Claiborne, Wilcox, Holloman (hopefully we finally get to see this guy healthy and play with all the injuries), Hatcher, and Ware healthy for the stretch.

That's a lot to count on through the bye week but is possible.

They actually mentioned this late in the game (or was it the post game?), but I was so in shock by then...

Dallas Defense = Historic failure, they are going to set all type of futility records this season.

That was the most unbelievable part about the whole thing: the saints accumulated almost as many first downs as we ran plays from scrimmage. And the Dallas offense converted as many third downs as I did from my living room in North Dallas.

This is why I have to pause when hearing how poorly our defense is performing. Yes, that side of the ball is obviously challenged. We knew that coming into the season, and so we expected this "high-powered" offense to help protect or mitigate those defensive issues. There are successful teams out there that actually function in this manner!

I can assure you, New Orleans and Detroit ain't rollin' up 600 yards and dominating the clock if our offense is at least competent. I don't care if your defense is halfway decent, full healthy.... you give Drew Brees and that unit 40 minutes to do damage (meaning your offense didn't come close to carrying its own weight), you're doomed to go home on the wrong end of a record-setting event.

Why does this surprise anyone? Garret's offenses have been prone to games of total futility since the end of the 2007 season. Anyone remember 44-6 and 34-3? Yeah, there are games where they put up points, but when it doesn't work, it tends to fail in miserable fashion.

The offense was bad, but this was far more about the defense. Remember, Dallas led 10-7 early on.

They all sucked. Big time. Defense was historibad; offense was totally inept. Coaching was horrendous. Special Teams was the only part of the affair that was remotely acceptable.

I'm starting to feel the same way about the Cowboys as I did when Frank McCourt owned the Dodgers. Not caring....

I believe I read that they're on a pace to give up the 2nd most yards in NFL history, missing out on the all time record by 5 yards or thereabouts.

I believe that record was set last year....by the Saints. But I could be wrong.
