I was watching the Saints game vs. Wash and laughed when I heard "Terrence Copper, the ex-Cowboy." I don't remember who the announcer was. It seems everyone has the Cowboys on their mind. Copper is not a Saint, he is an ex-Cowboy and whatever team he goes to he will always be remembered as an "ex-Cowboy." The media infatuation with the Cowboys just goes on and on.

But, on the bright side, I get to see almost every Cowboy game even here in Pittsburgh because of the infatuation with the Cowboys.

Yeah, I heard that as well while watching the game and it made me laugh :)

No big deal. It's pretty typical for an announcer to mention what team a player used to be on, especially if it happens to be the team he is playing against. I was more impressed that he said "Copper" instead of "Cooper".

Copper may be an ex-Cowboy but will always be a Pirate!!!! I hated to see the Cowboys let him go. Always like having having a fellow ECU alum to pull for on the Cowboys. I got spoiled in the 90s. I'm hoping they can get Audrae Allison in the draft to fill the void.

An announcer in the Chargers-Chiefs game did the same thing: "former Cowboy Randal Godfrey..." Hasn't it been at least 6 years since Godfrey played linebacker for the 'Boys? He was a good one, though.

That is a pretty odd connection to make at this point.

I can't even remember what team Omar Stoutmire is with (New Orleans?) but it'd be like seeing his team face, say, Tennessee and hear him referred to as the ex-Cowboy.

I was listening to the radio the other day and a guy called in from Nashville. Announcers chat briefly about his favorite team (the caller) the Titans. Then they play a game, name 4 NFL teams in 5 seconds. What's the first team he names?

Cowboys

I like it myself it tells me that Dallas has upgraded the talent to the point that we are forced to release some players with real talent. I'm not sure how much playing time Copper would get if he were still in Dallas but in NO he has had a chance to shine and has done a good job for them.

I thought the same thing, they never could get his name right when he was with us.

When Alvin Harper got in trouble a few years ago he was referred to as a former Cowboy even though he hadn't played for Dallas in five or six years and his most recent team had been Wash. :laugh2:

John Jett and Vinson Smith were both from ECU as well.

Didn't mean to totally hi-jack the thread, just had to get my ECU props in where I could. They have been very few and far between the last several years.

Infact in the Saints game they mentioned Stoutmire and referred to him as an 'ex-cowboy' as well.

Yeah, but he was playing against Washington at the time, hence the funny.
