How would you pronounce this child's name: "Le-a" ???

Leah?? NO
Lee - A?? NOPE
Lay - a?? NO
Lei?? Guess Again.

It's pronounced "Ledasha" Oh yes...you read it right. This child
attends a school in Parish, LA. Her mother is irate
because everyone is getting her name wrong. SO, if you see something
come across your desk like this please remember to pronounce it
correctly.

When the mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she
said "the dash don't be silent."

This opens up so many possibilities...

I'm gonna name my kid..... *

Pronounced "star."

Then her sibling will be Bor@.

Think Khazakstan...

As my children's teachers, if you can't figure these out, I'll have you fired.

I went to college with a guy who went by "Jere7my"

Funny thing was that he'd get miffed if people called him (pronounced phonetically) "jer-uh-seven-me."

He'd tell people, as if they should know better, "the 7 is silent." :laugh2:

Reminds me of one time a Sgt said my last name and I said...well Sgt it looks like Smith but it's actually pronounced Sticklemyer and you could see him thinking about in before he started laughing.

But there is a difference between a silly joke and someone actually getting upset over something like that.

Well it is in Louisiana where you got some crazy Cajun names, but that is a stretch even cajun standards.

Was checked out at a grocery store by a young lady whose nametag said TEQUILA. When I was leaving and said "Have a great day,Tequila",she gave me an icy look and said "It's Tuh-Quee-La"! I wonder what part a bottle of Jose Cuervo played in her conception?
