I have not mentioned sacks at all so quit saying I said something I have not said. I do not need you to put words in my mouth......I'm old enough to do that for myself thank you. I said PRESSURE......which prior to Sunday we have not been getting enough.

I'm thrilled the 3/4 seemed to be coming together...it's about time. Now that they have given me a taste of what they can do.....I want more!!!!!!:D

Geeze poobah. We are splitting hairs. I said a number of times we have been getting "pressure" all year and you along with others said no we havent. Like I said, its a matter of opinion.

Like fuzzy just said we are creating turnovers and turnovers are a result of pressure. And this isnt just lately, we are 3rd meaning we have beenc reating pressure allllllllllll year.

Pops,

You are aware that we are 3RD in the NFL in takeaways and were fourth going into last week? We are also near the top in negative plays (sacks and TFL).

I mean the whole point of getting pressure is to get turnovers and we are doing that in spades.

Clubs not spades......;) :D

Fuzzy....you made me throw my mouse against the wall....:( :)

I'm pleased that we are 3rd in takeaways and that we are 4th in neg. plays.

BUT, If anyone says we pressured Brunnell, E. Manning, Leftwich , just to mention a few, enough are more blind than me. ;)

Winicki, you're still a hypocritical bastid.

:D

Actually funny stuff MW. I got a serious :laugh2: out of this.

It's my medication.....I haven't had enough yet. :D

I reserve right to be grumpy(whether it be early or late) on occasion.......after all I'm the niciest, most handsome, quietist, most congenial individual on this board.

I also slept in the "Do Drop Inn" last night. :D

I think you deserve a grumpy pass every now and then.

But just a warning. If you keep throwing your mouse against the wall, you'll have P.E.T.A looking for you.:)

Last week, when people were complaining about our pass-rushing stats, I pointed out how difficult it was to get credited with a "quarterback hurry" in the official play-by-play. Sunday's game is a prime example of that. Most people who saw the game would agree that we put quite a bit of pressure on Manning, hitting him, forcing him out of the pocket, making him throw the ball away, etc.

But in the official GameBook, we were credited with ZERO quarterback hurries. The Colts had one.

Hmm. I guess I hadn't that out that but it is a solid point.

Its much more fun with beer. Just be careful with bottles cause they can leave holes.

And one of those moments was the first game with Leftwich getting all day to throw. But I think that Bledsoe taking a steady influx of stupid pills and turnoing the ball over. That kept the score close and thus we respected Taylor.

There was a thread earlier about how Romo helps the pass rush and I guess I buy that to a certain extent. I mean with the way our respective offenses and defenses perform I expect much more pass rush in the 4th quarter if we dont get 4 Tos from the QB week in and week out.

As an aside I have become very good at tape and floating. i find carpentry in general to be soothing.

Anything to bring a little levity to the board without it being overtly "nasty" :)

Some people still don't know what a blitz is.

Let's say on Offense they have 5 WR, 3 to the right, and 2 to the left. 5 OLinemen blocking, and a QB in the shotgun.

WE run the 3-4. Lets say Spears, Ferguson, and Canty all rush the QB. Ware and Carpenter both outside linebackers rush the QB. Is that a blitz? NO IT ISN'T.

A blitz is when you send more men than the offense has to block.

Lets say the offense has the standard 5 olinemen, 1 rb, and 1 fb in to block. that's 7 blockers. To blitz the Defense needs to send 8 or more defenders.

That's the true definition of a blitz. I don't know how some people don't know that

Ive seen the slot corner blitz through the line a couple times this season. It was really disappointing that Newman missed Addai on that blitz.

The main difference that I saw was our constant and conscious attempt to disguise the blitz. On almost every snap, the linebackers and safeties would crowd the line as if going to blitz and then back out only to have someone else go. They mixed it up as well.

Ware's free shot at Manning sure seemed like Manning did not think that he was going to blitz despite him walking up to the edge because of this and outsmarted himself into a fumble.

Hopefully the players are now proficient enough at the scheme so they cancontinue this and not miss assignments.

I think that's what it came down to. We weren't blizting any more than usual we were just much better at it and we "appeared" like we were going to blitz far more often than we did.

Yes...or dare I say the "A" word?

If Brain joins in im leaving. Ive heard what you mods are like when Mike is around.:eekmouse:

The bigger picture is that Dallas played more aggressively both in scheme and attitude Sunday. The use of the term "blitz" is somewhat meaningless regarding a 3-4 defense-- technically if any more than three guys rushes the passer it's a blitz.

The point is to take advantage of your pressure players (coughWAREcough) by putting them into position to succeed. They moved him around more and more effectively than ever against the Colts. They turned Hatcher and Raitliff loose. Around the goal line, they avoided the blitz and played physical football given that within 5 yards hey had free shots on any receiver. Roy knocked Clark to the ground, Ware shoved around multiple guys in one play.

That's aggressive football, and it really fits the personalities of our players. Does it fit our defensive coordinator, because if it does not then something needs to be done.

You read that definition from the Wikipedia article on blitzing. It is absolutely incorrect. This is sad.

For your future reference (I know you're pretty young and still learning about football), a blitz is any time that 5 or more defenders rush the QB.
