"We've got a plan on our offensive line, which is a good one I think. A plan that can be satisfactory to us if we didn't draft the outstanding offensive lineman. We've got a good plan there to make it comfortable to make this pick at receiver. We certainly haven't forgot about the needs on the offensive line, and when I say needs where we don't have a number of players."

The plan? A trade.

Jerry and this front office knows we can't go into the season with a starting line of Free-Kosier-Gurode-Davis-Columbo... That's not gonna hold up against a good pass rushing team.

From the press conference it really sounds like we value that 2nd rounder to try and grab another impact player, probably safety. But I wouldn't be surprised if we dealt a later pick + a player, or an '11 draft pick to pick up one of these fellas to complete this "plan."

Seems like Jerry is referencing getting depth as opposed to landing a starter. Could be wrong, but that's what I take from his "numbers" comment.

Yep. The Gaither stuff just got serious.

Jamall Brown is overrated bigtime. I'd rather just go with Free.

I also would like to know the odds of Seattle cutting Walter Jones since they drafted Okung.

Walter can still play at a high level.

This.

How come he said "outstanding Olineman" then?

If JJ is trading up in the 2nd, then Gaither would be out as an option since Bmore wants a 2nd for him. Our stealing Dez probably won't help matters :D

And that's a big no as far as Walter Jones since it is rumored that he will be annoucing his retirement on Friday.

I don't think he would refer to O-line depth as a "need".

The plan is called Flotel.

Could be possible. If he doesnt get the offer he wants and is guaranteed a spot to start elsewhere, I could see us bringing him back to at least compete for the job, provide depth.

No he cannot. He is going to retire. They drafted Okung because they know he is going to retire.

Walter Jones is done dude. He cant move.

Word is he's probably going to retire.

And they arnt trading for Gaither or Brown IMO.

Well, whatever the plan is, I was reassured as Jerry sounded pretty confident that everything was under control. But he's got that charlatan's charm that makes me wary.

I could see us bringing Flo back for depth or to push for the starting job again. I could see us possibly, at this point, trading our 2nd, or a later pick and maybe Bennett or something for Gaither. I think we're going to see a very interesting night tomorrow night.

This.

Jerry said there were 3 players he was excited about, as they were closing in on their pick..... Then 2 were taken which left Dez as the last of the 3 available.

Iupati and Pouncey went at #17 and #18 and would fall under the "outstanding lineman" comment.

I'm not sure what guards are on the market, but now that I think about, Kyle Kosier seems like the one we're trying to replace.

the same Walter Jones that is retiring due to injury riddled past 2 or 3 seasons?

I believe Dallas will trade up in the 2nd round to take a guy like Charles Brown from USC or Roger Saffold from Indiana.

We're in good shape with our starters. The concern I have is with the depth. We have no decent backup offensive linemen.

Doesn't make since to replace Kosier imo.

He plays well and is cheap.

I think Dallas wants a tackle and guard.

Who knows maybe they want to move up for Charles Brown?

We should bring Flo back and let him compete with Columbo for the starting RT position. Flo could still play at a very high level at RT and could backup the LT position.
