R2A Mock 1

Welcome to the first in my series of mock drafts leading up to the 2015 NFL Draft.

My first mock is focused on the first three rounds, and my draft strategy is extremely heavily defense.

1st round -
The Dallas Cowboys, at pick 27, select....
Markus Golden, DE, Missouri

2nd round -
The Dallas Cowboys, at pick 27, select....
Michael Bennett, DT, Ohio State

3rd round -
The Dallas Cowboys, at pick 27, select....
Derron Smith, S, Fresno State

If we came out of the 3rd round by adding this much talent on defense we would be positioning ourselves for a very successful 2015

I wanted to keep this basic, but I am thinking we trade up to the earlyish 2nd

i think bennett goes late 1 tbh, his quickness will appeal to lots of teams, especially if he tests well

Signing Suh and drafting those three fellas would be a nice start.

If we are able to pull that off and sign Suh I think I would start focusing on the offense, don't forget we have a returning Sean Lee too! That defense could be really good.

I think Bennett will get drafted before Golden.

I think Smith moves up the ranking after the combine. He looks like he is really fast.

I like letting Dwayne Harris walk in the offseason and getting Lockett in the 3rd. I honestly don't think our coaches see S as a big need, seem to like Church and Wilcox.
I think its a bit of a foregone conclusion we sign a FA along the DL so will make it interesting to see what we do with our first rounder in that case.
Pretty confident our first pick will be a pass rusher, if we add some beef on the DL then I'd prefer someone more like Orchard who is significantly more explosive albeit lighter.
Wouldn't care about 1st and 2nd down if Dlaw and Orchard were bending the corners on 3rd and longs and we have some push up the middle.

I agree about Bennett and wouldn't whine at all if he's the pick at #27.

Golden in the 1st? Ealy was a better player and went late 2nd last year. That's a reach. Has to be a better player at 27 than golden

Didn't Ealy drop b/c of a bad combine or something? He was projected mid-1st, IIRC.

I think he dropped because he was viewed as more of LDE as opposed to a RDE. At least that's what I remember.

And game tape. And we saw h2iw he played this yeaf. Ealy hasn't been good. He was projected 1st early then dropped. Golden is alot like Ealy. Both gogot one on one match ups I college because the player opposite was a better pass rusher.

I like Golden but not 1st round. I think there may be better players at 27

Not trying to pile on but we would be damn lucky if Bennett made it to #27. He's going to rise throughout the process, IMO, just like I was afraid Donald would last year.

He won't rise as much as Donald but I think he goes before 27 for sure.

I'm a big fan of Derron Smith, wouldn't mind him in the second. Think he can be an impact player from day one.
