Of course, the only talk on any sports-radio call-in shows, all day today, was the draft (that and the crash at Talladega!)
This Cowboy fan calls up, goes on and on about how wonderful and smart the Browns and Patriots were for not going after the "big splash" guy, and trading around to get more picks. He goes on to say how the Patriots have been "genius's" at this for years, getting a lot of picks in the later rounds, and coming up with "gems".
In THE VERY NEXT BREATH, he goes off on Jerry and berates the Cowboys for having "another rotten draft" and how Jerry and the Cowboys just stumbled all over themselves and screwed the whole draft up.
I called in with "You know, what Jerry did is EXACTLY WHAT THE THIS GUY WAS PRAISING THE PATRIOTS FOR". But, because it's Jerry Jones, it's all "bonehead"! This from a supposed Cowboy fan!!! It was clear to me that this guy suffers from "whatever Jerry does is wrong" syndrome.
Listen, I'm as much a fan of Jerry leaving football operations in Dallas to "football men". But, I have no problem with this draft, and was thinking the very thing that this guy didn't get. We have most, if not all the pieces in place to win a SB. I, personally, think that the secondary needs a little help, and I'm ecstatic that we drafted a QB. I have no problem with many of Jerry's draft picks. My problem with Jerry is more about the coaches and staff of "yes-men" that he hand picks. THAT'S THE PROBLEM.
Anyway, suddenly many around here are concerned about the "grades" we're getting from the Cowboy-hating media. You know, we're all over them for their treatment of the Cowboys all year, but then we all rush to see the grades they give us in the draft. I could give a rats butt what USA Today or ESPN or Mel Kiper thinks. This was a darn decent draft and we haven't lost a thing. We can't be nothing but better because of this draft, not worse................
