Well, it's available on http://www.inrainbows.com for download. It's basically whatever you want to pay for it. I didn't pay anything yet as I kind of like the idea of trying out an album, but you can donate whatever you want. Anyways, back to the album itself:

Good stuff. It's less, I dunno if "weird" is the right word for it, but it's closer to The Bends than it is to say Amnesiac. It's less electronic in spots than Radiohead has been in their later albums, but less guitar driven than The Bends or Pablo Honey. Lots of strings. Lots. A little less weird and a little bit more accessible is fine with me. Thus far, I'd say my favorites have to be "Nude" and "Faust Arp". "Nude" is just beautiful and "Faust Arp" sounds so Beatles-esque that I can't help but like it. Oh and "Reckoning" is amazing.

The rest of the album is good as well. Least favorite thus far is the album closer, "Videotape". I'd say Radiohead still hasn't topped "Street Spirit" as an album closer.

Either way, grab it. You can't go wrong with an album that you can technically try for free or keep for free for that matter. The idea of really digging it and never donating anything kind of makes me feel guilty though. ;)

More like The Bends?? I'll have to check it out, I'm a big Radiohead fan and still listen to OK Computer now and then.

So why bother?

This is the only download I've ever paid for. I respect the band for releasing it in this manner.

They did something similar with Hail to the Thief -- they let it be leaked on several non-official fan pages -- then many of those fan pages worked with local record stores on discount promotions when people brought in their burned copies of the CD (1 or 2$ off the official version). This was of course before the iPod
