I don't think it was necessarily by design that we ran more in the 2nd half but was due to having the lead in a lot of games.

There's that, and then what Vela didn't say (and maybe doesn't know) is that we couldn't run for average in the first half. Some of this was probably due to Barber not starting, but could also be attributed to unimaginative play-calling, unwillingness of the backs to bounce it outside (maybe they were coached that way), and the fact that our line just didn't get the same push in the 1st half of games that it got in the 2nd half.

Our 1st half ypa did go up a bit later in the season, after we started seeing more draws and traps, and more designed runs to the outside. It went waaaay up in the playoffs when Barber started, but that's just one game.

I think we could also see Choice get himself a series in both halves as well.

If Garrett could finish off the game with Barber carrying the ball on the last 12-14 offensive plays for the Cowboys not only would he be ecstatic but I think we would all be as well.

What many refuse to accept is the fact that our O line was lousy at run blocking as regards preventing leakage. Just about all the time our backs were dodging D players in the backfield. Just how often was a real big hole and a lane cleared by our O line and FB, TEs? Not very often. Now in short yardage we were good because of the huge size and strength we have; but in most other run plays frankly we did not do very well. That is one reason I love Houck being back. Sparano did an excellant job of teaching pass blocking= but run blocking he just was not good at all.
