#18 IMO is too high for Carpenter......if that is who our brain trust wants to draft, then trade down and take him.

Just don't see that many LB's being picked that high. It almost never happens.

Good points all around here. LBers do almost always fall. Greenway isn't as good as DJ last year (similar players) and DJ fell to 15.

NE taking Carpenter at 21 is a real possibility.

People are saying that 18 is too high for him? Trying to get cute and trade down and you might end up with Lawson, Wimbley and Carpenter off the board. Then you have to hope Mark Anderson manages to fall in 2 or you are looking at a much less appealing group of prospects.

Carpenter is a good fit and the team could do much worse at 18 (a free safety....blah)

With his ankle injury keeping him from running drills, he most likely falls to the second round. Especially with the draft being so deep in LBs and DEs.

If all three are on the board at 18 we will try hard to move down.

Carpenter did run drills at OSU's Pro-Day.. from NFL.com

Bobby Carpenter LB Carpenter is only 90 percent healthy, according to trainers, but he ran the 40 in 4.66 and 4.68, the short shuttle in 4.31 and the three-cone drill in 6.88. He also had a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump, a broad jump of 10-foot-4, and did 20 strength reps. Carpenter looked very good in his position drills.

Not terrible numbers for someone that wasn't completely healthy. I'm not so certain he gets past the Pats at #21.. But I am positive he does not get out of the first round.

i agree that Carpenter probably doesn't make it past NE (but what if one of the top 2 WRs are still there?), but it really sounds like we would be just as happy with Wimbley or Lawson and we should be able to trade down, if we stay in the first, and get one of those guys.
LBs slip, always, just like FSs.
