Raiders a step away from Vegas relocation, owner calls stadium 'proud new home'

Six months ago, Raiders owner Mark Davis promised that he would move his team to Las Vegas if the state of Nevada approved $750 million in public funds for a new stadium.

Well, we've got some bad news for you Oakland: The funding was officially approved on Friday.

The Nevada Assembly approved the funding bill with a 28-13 vote during a meeting in Carson City. The vote comes two days after the money was formally approved with a 16-5 vote in the Nevada Senate. The senate actually had to vote on the bill twice. The second time around, they had to approve the amendments made by the assembly.

The Raiders moving is a done deal and unofficially has been for months.

IMO the only question is what will SD do? Stay or go to OAK?

Do the Raiders have to pay the city of Oakland to leave? And do they have to pay the other owners for moving? Same questions with the Chargers plus will they go to Los Angeles?

The Raiders stadium lease is over after the 2016 season. They will have to pay a relocation fee which I believe is split amongst the other 31 NFL teams.

I can't envision a Chargers move to Oakland. They would need a new stadium deal and Oakland doesn't seem like they are willing to do that. If they were the Raiders wouldn't be leaving. The Chargers don't have enough of a fan base to set up in Oakland or really any city. The only place they can possibly move is LA and even that will be a challenge. Their franchise did spend its first season in LA, so there is a weak historical tie in.

Raiders should've took the San Antonio deal, they will regret going to Las Vegas

Not sure how I feel about Vegas and a professional team being there.

NHL is going to try it out, but I think that's an even weirder option for them when you have better locations IMO.

Chargers to Germany simultaneously with Jax to London. Logistics work a lot better with two teams in Europe.
