I don't think I would want a college offensive ASSISTANT coach as my NFL coach. Just not enough experience.

Well...I will admit I am scared of Jerry's hire.

But retread, unproven or overall bad.

For the life of me I just don't think Jerry would hire a 31 year old coach who was only an Assistant in the college ranks.

I have no clue why they did not hire the best coach they already have on the team...their DC.

If any coach can keep that defense playing well with that offensive mess and team record he deserves to be promoted.

Although maybe he said no...who knows.

RAIDERS TO HIRE KIFFIN

Adam Schefter of NFLN reports that the Oakland Raiders will hire USC co-offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin to succeed Art Shell as head coach of the team.

Kiffin interviewed several days ago for the position of offensive coordinator in a regime that would have featured USC co-offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as head coach. Sarkisian thereafter withdrew his name from consideration.

Apparently, Sarkisian will now interview to be the offensive coordinator of the Raiders.
