Raiders Fire Jackson

Same ole, same ole in Oakland.

Hire a coach, give him no talent, fire him.

Only 1 year on the job. Damn near won the AFC West.

Very odd. Well it is the Raiders so not really.

Wow that is a huge surprise and it goes to show that Oakland is a joke when it comes to coaches.

I would imagine they might be able to attract a good Head Coach now that Al is gone. Maybe this is just a move to say that Al is gone and so is his coaches so we want to start fresh. Who knows.

Personality conflict with new GM is what I heard.

And this is the kind of stuff that some Cowboys fans on these very forums are calling for with our own HC. Firing him after 1 season on the job.

Thanks but no thanks.

Plenty of people have been fired with less than one year on the job. Not sure why the NFL should be so much different. If the GM thinks that the current coach isn't what he wants to run the team, he should leave him there just because, hey, it's only fair to give the guy more time? It's McKenzie's neck on the line if he fails. He has to do what he thinks is best.

Jackson dug his own grave. He lost the team. He put all of his money on Red and it came back Black.

The GM came in, met with him and didn't like him. He's the General Manager. He calls the shots.

Why waste time with the remnants of the old regime? Laugh at Oakland all you want - but they have a General Manager who actually knows football.

:lmao2:GMAFB yeah we are laughing at Oakland. They haven't been to the playoffs since 2002, haven't had a winning season since 2002 and traded one, maybe two 1st round picks for a broken down washed up QB. As far as he 'knows football' that remains to be seen as a GM.

IN the NFL, it is really unrealistic to think that one year is going to do what's needed for a new coach. If you hire a coach, you need to give them 3-5 years to show what their program can do. Otherwise it's a sign of an incompetant GM.

On the other hand, with a new GM, all bets are off, as the coach hasn't been picked by that GM.

Because when it comes to the NFL people shouldnt expect to build a bad team into an immediate contender and expect instant gratification when it comes to these things.

Would people around here wanting Garrett gone in a year have been asking the same thing of Jimmy after 1-15?

Of course since all those people have the benefit of hindsight at this point they'll say "No, that's different.", or some other such thing.

But I pretty much believe that many of those exact same people who want to oust coaches after a year would have been screaming bloody murder for the removal of Jimmy.

We didn't have forums back then but I know, even at a young age, there were plenty of people who were just certain he should have been fired, he sucked, he'd never make it.

Man if those type of thinkers had gotten their way huh?
