Raiders' Huff Contract: 4 years, $32M

I know this is not necessarily off-topic, but for anyone wondering why we didn't sign Michael Huff, it's because he wanted $8M a year!

The Raiders gave it to him. I'm glad we didn't.

My buddy is a huge Raiders fan and he is totally bummed that they re-signed Huff, much less for that amount. He said Huff could not tackle to save his life and was a huge liability in the run-game last season. He also expects him to revert to his old form now that he got his contract.

Prices go up.

Ken Hamlin got 6 years and 38M. That's pushing 6.5M and that was like 2-3 years ago.

Four years ago Polamalu got an extension of 4 years for 30M.

Chances are a lot however draft choice would not cost near as much if we are fortunate. For me I hope to see some of the younger guys step up in pre season and show they have a legit chance in the future.

Well not now that the scale is in place.

Even still, banking on being able to both be competitive and land the guy you want while picking at a competitive draft slot is some pie in the sky thinking.

Why Reed was a 24th pick. Heck many of the top safety where not high #1's

Elam is every bit the safety that Huff is, and maybe more so for Dallas because Rob Ryan heavily persued Elam and not Huff. Both played for Ryan so that says something.

And kudos to Jerry Jones too for sitting pat, not overpaying in a thin S market, and letting that market come to him. Well played, Jerry; very well played!

I agree, Cowboys did the right thing by waiting and not jumping into over paying decent but not great safeties.

I would have liked Huff in Dallas said it from the get go but at 8 mill no way and as you mention with Elam he understands Ryan defense and this should help communications in the secondary

Nah, can't be. I mentioned that Huff was barely average months ago after watching the Raiders play in 2010, and was told I was blind, an idiot and/or lying.
