Talking to a guy tonight who is a big fan of the Chiefs. Huge fan.

He mentioned that the Raiders were the first team in NFL history to sweep their division, and miss the playoffs.

Other oddities.

Miami 1-7 at home, 6-2 on the road???

We all know about Seattle's record with them finishing 9th in the NFC based on record alone, but hosting an 11 win team in the first round of the playoffs.

No one in the NFC ended the season with an 8-8 record. First time since 2002. Not really all that big of a thing, but I thought it was interesting.

Two teams improved from 2009 to 2010 by a margin of 6 wins. Neither of them were the Commanders. :p:

I should have added that the Broncos, finishing 4-12, lost more than 11 games for the first time in their franchise history.

The word is they're also going to fire Tom Cable.

It would figure wouldn't it? They actually have a non-losing season for the first time in forever and fire their coach?

One thing that I love about the Raiders right now:

Jason Campbell: 8-8 record, 13 TD's, 8 Interceptions, 84.5 QB Rating,
Status: Starting Quarterback

Donovan McNabb: 6-10 record, 14 TD's, 15 Interceptions, 77.1 QB Rating,
Status: Benched, 3rd String

Good job there all the way around Washington. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

If a team sweeps their division the are the division champs and make the playoffs.

The guy has an anger problem.

I'm surrounded by them every dang day.

They can't lose in the playoffs soon enough.

I checked the standings and it's true. They were 6-0 and didn't make the playoffs. How is this possible? Why didn't they win the division?

Because the Chiefs have a 10-6 record, the Raiders have a 8-8 record, Chiefs won the AFC West division due to a better record than the Raiders

That makes no sense. If you beat everyone in your division you should he the division champs. I guess the NFL changed that.

If Miami had won their last game, it would have been the first time in NFL history (ie, since the merger) that a team won 6 more games on the road than at home. As it is, I think they're tied with only 2 other teams in having won 5 more games on the road than at home.

you're thinking of college. It's always been best record first, head to head as a first tie breaker and divison record as a second tie breaker

I could be wrong but I remember Dallas going 8-8 one season, before Az moved to the NFCW, all 8 wins were division wins and we made the playoffs.

No Yeager...overall record has always come 1st in division races.

It does seem REALLY odd that the Raiders ended us sweeping and not getting in though.

Maybe so, but it would have meant that no other team in the division had a better record than 8-8.

Campbell's record is better than that. They started the other guy some and were like 1-3 with him as the starter.

Are you talking about the 1998 season? In that year the Cowboys went 10-6 the Cardinals 9-7 The Giants 8-8 The Commanders 6-10 and the Eagles 3-13. The Cowboys went 8-0 in the division during the regular season.

Will anyone believe me now that Jason Campbell is not a bad quarterback?

Doing more with CONSIDERABLY less in Oakland.

You can sweep your division for 6-0 and finish 6-10 and not get in as long as another team still goes like 12-4, lol.
