Week 1 - K. McArdell caught 9 passes for 123 yards against us.

Week 2 - Santana Moss caught the 2 TD passes racking up 159 yards.

Week 3 - Brandon Lloyd grabbed 2 TD passes.

If our secondary isn't up to the task - it's going to be a one man wrecking crew.

Randy Moss is in a TOTAL 'nuther league than the aforementioned.

I'm officially concerned - big time.

This Cowboys D will be prepared for Moss. Henry will come to play. He will be very physical with Moss. The thing that worries me is pass interference calls.

The key is Dallas is 2-1 even though WRs have had good days.
Moss is on an 0-3 team even though he has been good so I am all for that trend continuing.

The Raiders are going to score on us but the question is do they score enough to win.

The trend in our favor is that they seem to be a very poor running team and if we can keep both safeties back deep or just play nickel and stop the run easily then Moss wont be nearly as deadly.

Randy Moss is gonna get his.
He always does... especially against us.

The key is to stop trying to take him out of the game and instead focus on outscoring him.

For every TD he scores, we need to answer back with one.

You're not going to take him completely out of the game so you have to just respond with your own big plays.

Our offense better come ready to play. Our defense/special teams have so far been barely good enough to win (except in Dallas) so until they prove otherwise, scoring lots of points is what it's gonna take. I knew the defense was going to have growing pains, but the roller coaster we've been on with these come from behind wins is about to give me cardiac arrest.

This game worries me. This is a game we should win but regardless of the fact that the Raiders lack discipline and are poor statistically, I just feel they match up well against us and will be desperate for a win. I hope I'm wrong.

If moss gets henry or glenn for a big gain, do you think zimmer will start playing hte matchup game (put newman on Moss) instead of position vs position?

We can win this game if we can get JJ going. I think it will be close for most of the game,,,,21-17 or so, then they kill us with big play late to put us away.

Final 28-17. :(

We can't stop there passing game. They will score points on us with Moss, Porter and Gabriel. To me, the key is the running game. I don't think we can let Jordan have a good game against us. I think we have to limit them in this area. If they can be balanced against us, offensively, we are going to have a difficult time of it.

On the other hand, I don't believe they can stop our running game either. If we can consistantly run the football, I think we can take control of the game in the 4th quarter. If we take there running game away from them and shorten the game with ours, I think we have an excellent chance of winning that game. If they can run the ball, that opens up there play book and we will get smoked.

One thing about Collins this year, he's not throwing INTs. In fact, he has yet to throw one this year. On the other hand, he will put the rock on the carpet. He's had 1 fumble in each of the 3 previous games. When he does this, we have to recover. Take care of the football and show up in the running game. I think that's how we beat Oakland.

I think we should have Glenn and Newman on the corners and put Henry back at FS. Newman should be on Moss the whole game.

So you are concerned Sarge...well you should be. I posted this yesterday:

I dont think it is a revelation that our pass defense sucks big time this year.

What makes it worse is when you look at who has been burning the Cowboys.

Lets take a look:

Keenan McCardell had 9 catches for 123 yards and 2 TDs, his biggest day since 2001.

Santana Moss had 5 receptions for 159 yards and 2 TDs, which by the way was his most productive day ever in his career.

Brandon Lloyd had 4 receptions for 142 yards and 2 TDs, which by the way was him most productive day ever in his career.

I know a win is a win is a win, but you can be assured that the well will go dry on those wins if Dallas does not figure out some way stop making every receiver look like Jerry Rice.

I am really dreading playing Randy and Jerry next week. If Dallas can put the kabosh on these guys, that will help restore my hopes for this team this year.

Chris Mortensen was just on 103.3 talking about why Moss hasn't done as well as some in Raidersland hoped. (Not that he hasn't done well enough, but I guess they hoped for even more.) Mort said he's been told that Moss is laughably lackadaisical in practice. He just jogs his routes and generally doesn't seem to care at all about practicing. This might be one reason why he just catches deep routes... Because any kind of timing is of course completely different in a real game situation.

And the bad thing for the Raiders is that some of this 'tude has rubbed off on the other WRs, too.

Not to say that he can't get 200 yards on us, but it's an insight as to why this guy isn't even better than he is given his talent. When you add his kind of lazy attitude to Norv's being less that a disciplinarian, you get a bad formula for the overall team.

Our safeties need to put a few licks into Moss, even if it's a bit late, so he knows someone is there. He usually back off the middle routes and hopefully our CB can concentrate on the deep and corner routes.

If the Eagles game is any indication, the Raiders are starting to come into their own on offense. In their first two games, it looked like they were trying to force the ball too much to Randy Moss. Against Philly, they spread the ball around more.

They have alot of weapons besides Moss. Looking at their passing game:

Jerry Porter. Big, physical guy, hard to tackle.
Doug Gabriel. Very fast, good deep threat that is a good matchup vs. nickle corners.
Lamont Jordan. Reliable recieving option, but not much of a mismatch to cover.
Courtney Anderson. 6'-7", 270 lb tight end who is starting to have an impact. He gave the Eagles fits. He is too tall to cover with a linebacker, even a good cover linebacker.
Alvis Whitted. Another speedy deep threat.
Ronald Curry. I don't know if he's healthy this week, but he is dangerous.

It all starts and ends with Kerry Collins, who is very streaky. Eagles fans agree that he played very well against us, getting rid of the ball quickly when needed and putting nice touch on his passes. The Raiders used alot of mass-protection to buy him time.

In my opinion, the keys for your team will be Williams and Davis. They need to give deep help nearly every play. Cornerbacks cannot single cover the Raiders wideouts.

The thing is that this is not all about Randy Moss. Jerry Porter the Raiders #2 receiver is also better than any receiver we have faced thus far. The truth is simple. The Secondary is going to have to take it up to another level. The good news is that they do have that next level in them we just have not seen their A yet. In reality I do not even think we have seen their C game yet. I honestly think that the NFC is on borrowed time because right now we are stealing games with big holes, but I believe by the end of this season our defense will be special.
