I don't know if it's so much we really want No.-Schott or that we really have no shot with any of the other coaches we've talked to because of the Joneses' expectations for their coaches (low pay, lack of control over assistants, lack of control over personnel, bargain free agent philosophy).

Great hire by the Raiders. Easily their best HC hire since Gruden. Pete is a QB guru which makes me think he agreed to the Raiders gig with a promise that they're going to trade up with CLE for Shedeur. Don't think he'd agree otherwise considering they have BY FAR the worst QB room in the league right now.

Carroll and the Raiders are a weird fit for sure. Carroll's 73 years old, should have tons of money from his USC and Seattle days, and has nothing left to prove to anyone. He's going to a teardown-rebuild of a team that has no QB.

It doesn't seem like the Raiders' window to compete lines up with Carroll, and I don't know what Carroll wants from the Raiders. At his age, I figure he would take a College Gameday make-work job or something, not go hang out in a football facility for 80+ hours a week.
