Raiders waive Mike Williams

He's slow, and not really that athletic. PRetty easy to look good when you're on the best college team in teh country playing DB's that you outweigh by 40 lbs and have a 6 inch height advantage on.

I seem to remember claiming that Braylon Edwards would be a far superior receiver coming out of that draft, and about 5 people bought it

:lmao2:

Unfortunately, where I live in Nevada gets nothing but Oakland games. Williams really wasn't doing much in the games that I saw. To add insult to injury, in this last game, Oakland was driving for the winning score. On fourth down, Culpepper hit Williams right in the hands for what would have been an easy first down and continue the drive. Needless to say, the ball hit him in the hands and he dropped it. Game over for the Raiders. That could not have helped. I have to echo the sentiment that when your former college coach cuts you, it doesn't say much for your future prospects. He was playing in Oakland. He wasn't the last WR on the roster. And they chose to cut him. He might be done.

I wouldn't mind bringing the guy in at league min for the remainder of the season. But who would you cut? I don't think anyone deserves to lose their job to bring in this guy.

Dude, I typed two sentences. Could you at least read both sentences before jumping on the reply button? I finished by saying he wasn't good enough to cut a guy for, even the worst guy on our roster.

Even if the last WR on the roster was "Garbage", why replace him with... MORE garbage?

But in the same vein, you said you wouldn't mind signing him.... Confused much?

Fixed it for you..

I see no way in the world we'd bring Mike Williams in, but to assume that Hurd and Austin actually deserve their roster spots as anything more than Special teamers is to watch them with your eyes shut.

Hurd caught one pass on a simple slant and scored because the CB didn't get a hand on him. He's had quite a bit of playing time and proved to be absolutely nothing, which is probably why we now run out fasano more than hurd when we want more receivers on the field.

Austin, with all that speed, can't even get on the field for a look when we clearly have no 3rd receiver option. With Crayton also often ineffective as a starter, I find it amazing that Red has been able to get this offense to put up so many points with T.O. and Witten alone.

This team is desperate for a starting WR opposite T.O. so that Crayton can go back to what he does best, work as the 3rd receiver....we need that other WR with speed before this team will be able to truly reach the elite level (another CB wouldn't hurt either); however, Mike Williams, while I'd have no problem seeing him replace Hurd or Austin, is definitely not the player we need. I'm hoping Stanback might be, but we won't have a clue until he gets on the field.

I'm going to love it when we start to see the same threads about Dwayne Jarrett after all the drama about him before this years draft.

If we were to bring this guy in I wouldn't want him to see the field this year.

He needs a lot of 1 on 1 coaching, speed/agility training, and weight loss.

If you want to turn him into a Colombo project id be fine with that.

The guy has talent but obviously his heart isnt dedicated on football.

If Parcells were still here id want him signed today.

He would be nothing like a Colombo project. Colombo never had issues with being lazy and unmotivated.

Then why would you want him? You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Aka, you can put MW on the field, but you can't make him want to do great things.

A Colombo type project.... it could happen....

Yeah I am just playing a little devils advocate here....
You never know... this guy played on bad Detroit team and then the Raiders.... while he is no where near Randy Moss... look what the Raiders did to Moss... had everyone talking about how his career was over.... uh, right...

Maybe a change of scenery and good slap upside his head would straighten him...

but if as many of you have said... he is lazy and not that good then... oh wel...

I think I'd rather sign the guy that the Raiders are reportedly going to sign. Tim Dwight. He's probably still able to help on special teams with kick and punt returning.

Man, I remember during the Draft that Mike Golic and Mel Kiper were reaming Sean Salisbury for saying that Williams would be no better than a second WR at the NFL level. Kudos to Salisbury for calling this one right.
