Maintain Morale
It would be understandable if the Cowboys were crushed after learning that inside linebacker Sean Lee would have season-ending surgery on his injured right big toe. But the Cowboys have to find a way to move on without him. Otherwise, they’ll be defeated before they even take the field Sunday.

Stop the big play
The Giants’ offense can move at a brisk pace. This season, they have produced 27 completions of 20 yards or more – the third-highest total in the NFL. Quarterback Eli Manning has developed a strong rapport with receivers Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, who can stretch the field.

Protect the ball
The Cowboys have yet to play a game this season without committing a turnover. Ending that streak of giveaways Sunday would serve them well for a number of reasons.

Attack Eli
One of the keys to victory in the Cowboys’ first meeting with the Giants was their ability to attack quarterback Eli Manning effectively. They sacked Manning twice and hurried him 15 times in that game.

That's a good list.

I so wish we would crunch Eli a few times. But if not, we need to win the turnover battle and need to prevent to huge plays.

Key to the game: Pass the ball more effectively than the Giants do.

completely agree.

there are no two ways about it.

I would like to think with jenkins back for this game that we get all 4 corners on the field and find ways to scheme the giants when they spread us out get corners free on blitzes......

with the 4 corners we have there is no reason we cant take chances tomorrow hitting manning when they are on there side of the 50. if we hurry him he will throw us the ball.

Keys to every NFL game ever played or to be played:

Protect the ball
Make more big plays and give up less than your opponent
Win field position
Protect your QB and pressure the opponents'

Hmmm, that echoes his. Fancy that.

Score more points?:)

OK from a stategic point of view to perhaps accomplish that goal...

Bring the heat on Manning.

Blitz, blitz and blitz some more. If there is one advantage we have over the Giants as I see it, its that we are better equipped to blitz and are also better equipped to deal with their blitz.

Manning is a fairly stationary target. He seldom makes positive plays on the move. Bring extra rushers. Especially up the middle to get his feet moving and him out of the pocket to his left or right.
Our DBs matchup better to their recievers than their's do to ours.

On the flip side, Romo out of the pocket is a nightmare scenario for the gmen. You won't see much blitzing from them.

Which is why I don't read these 'Keys to victory' articles any more. A third-grade student could compose them.

Nor do I bother with the 'How do we match up?' articles either. Experience tells me that they won't even be close to how the game unfolds.

Oh, I think some of the matchups are good and some fair. Depends on the writer and how much he knows including Xs and Os.

If it comes down to passing games:

QB -- NY, but not a runaway except in 4th quarter comebacks
Receivers -- NY, but we might perform just as we'll due to NY secondary
Consistent pressure from front four -- NY...no contest on less OL steps up

Secondary -- Dallas...no contest unless they expose McCray

I actually like our running game better than NY's, but I like their passing to RBs better because I think that's easier to counter from the 4-3 than the 3-4.

I wonder if we may play more 4-3 than usual tomorrow with Connor in his more familiar MLB role and Carter running with TE.

Keys: Keep the chains moving on offense. Keep the mental lapses to a minimum. Get in the red zone and score. And I don't mean just FGs. Put it in the endzone.

Force their offense into mistakes. Generate a couple turnovers and capitalize on them. Do not give up the big play. Shut down their run.

This would be nice.

Now you're just taking all the fun out of it.

It'd be nice to score on D and STs. I wouldn't mine getting some decent field position on occasion either. Seems we have problems with that.

We may be talking about different types of articles. I am talking about the articles that compare run offenses to run defenses, etc., and claim an advantage for one team or the other. Since coordinators are aware of the relevant strengths of each team, they plan to counter. Often those counters actually work quite well. Also, a key player can play over his head or stumble abysmally, or there can be injuries that confound the equations, or the referees interfere, or whatever. It might be amusing just to see the opinions, and how they hold up. But, I find it a waste of my time.

Maybe. It appears that Ernie Sims is going to get some playing time somewhere.

With Lee out, Sims and Carter would be the only LBs on the roster that fit the role of 4-3 OLB.
