Maybe if his son wasn't such a horrible, disgraceful embarrassment on the field, he'd have been treated better. Hard to say, really.

Of course, your post here is ignorant -- "disgraceful embarrassment" - please. A 6th rounder had to step in and start for us because of an injury. Few 6th rounders coming into the league are ready to play at that level. Anyone who expected much more is ... on crack.

Many of us were critical of his play and his dad was not thin skinned about that. He offered insight -- e.g. Petitti was playing on a bad ankle, etc.

Others were disrespectful. There clearly is a line that you do not cross when discussing an issue with someone's father - and many classless posters crossed that line over and over.

i enjoyed the insight his dad gave us and enjoyed him being here. I was pissed with how some idiots treated him.

They can't all be pro bowl players.

It was very interesting to have a self-identified father contributing to the board, although IMO anonymity makes more sense.

Yeah, it sure is ignorant to expect a professional football player to play at a professional level. Pettiti was probably practice squad material at best, there's no way he should have been on the depth chart where he was. That's probably more of an indictment on Parcells though.

Of course you expect some bumps along the road when a rookie (regardless of where they were drafted) has to step in because of injury, but Pettiti was a glaring weakness and a huge handicap to the entire offense.

And it was funny when we finally did cut him how his dad basically claimed Parcells had given him a raw deal, and that Rob would flourish with the Saints... uh, yeah.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Wasn't the claim that Petitti was "lied to" or something when Colombo beat him out of his job?

Yeah, it sure is ignorant for people to show some class when they know the guy's father is on the board.

I think it was about Fabini beating him out actually.

Petitti was drafted for his potential- prior to his senior year when he ballooned, he was thought to be second or third rd potential.
And lets face it- he did OK as long as he got some help. It was not untill late in the season when he had the ankle injury and got worn down that he stank. He was OK for the early part.

so in that logic only people who have superstar children are entitled to respect and common decency??

people are just idiots. half the people criticizing petitti have kids who are messed up in various ways yet his kid being a late round pick who is merely a backup OL is a reason to insult??

it is simple ignorance and a lack of maturity.

If he can come back I am betting it will be as a guard. He just does NOT have the footspeed for tackle.
