Rams get #1 overall

If Wentz and Goff go 1 and 2, the run will start. That probably pulls Lynch into the top 10 and Cook into the first round.

I feel bad for the sucker team that takes Cook in the first round.

Knock on wood that we aren't the sucker team that trades back into the late first round to take Cook.

Just about every NFL scout. I get that we are gun-shy after Claiborne but Ramsey is a freak of nature player.

Being gun shy over Claiborne is not my reason for wanting to pass on him. I don't spend a fourth overall pick and then have the inconvenience of racking my brain trying to figure out where he fits best on my defense. If that is even a question, that means you are taking an athlete not a refined football player where you know what he can do for your team.

Very tentative on Lynch. Doesn't really have that QB persona.

From what I read, he became a QB by default due to size and need. Very raw.

Much like Tannehill, who was a receiver before a quarterback.

Nah, that just makes him a prime safety, which this team hasn't had in a long time. Jones and Ramsey could be the best safety tandem in football.

The whole argument is based on getting a RT. I don't see the rationale to taking Tunsil just because you believe you need a RT. If something came about where Free was done or Green didn't work out, draft another one, but certainly not at 4.

The rationale is that he's the top player in the draft. Best available player. Until today, the guy was ticketed to go 1st overall. And you're getting that quality to replace Doug Free?!?!? It's not a move based on dire need, but those seldom work out anyway. It's to add to a strength, making it unquestionably dominant, and giving Romo or whatever future quarterback the greatest chance for success.

I also don't think the line necessarily gets significantly worse if you had to bump Collins to RT. Isn't that one of the reasons we are hanging onto Leary, as starter quality insurance?

I think that many, including the team, would disagree with your assessment. Despite everyone's hopes and claims last year, the team put him at left guard and kept him there. While people continued to talk about a right tackle that never happened.

And for the record, I think they're hanging on to Leary as a backup for injury for a year or trade bait. But I see no plan that involves putting him back on the field to start.

Just had a good chat via texts with a bay area sportswriter that I grew up with.
Thinks Goff is still looking at SF as the most-likely destination. Has no clue what Dallas will do as they've been connected to literally eight guys in the top 15.

It's working to perfection.

I don't like his frame or his lack of athleticism. I don't like the system he's from. And other than Rodgers, quarterbacks from that school don't fare well in the NFL. I've been to Berkeley, and that place screws people up in the head.

"Other than Rodgers" is a pretty big exception.

As for his frame, he's put on 30 lbs in his three years there, and should add more in an NFL program and despite his frame and the high number of hits, he's never missed significant time with injury.

Another ten pounds and nobody's saying a word about it.

Exactly and if I recall one of the reasons Collins started at OG was because Free was playing well and they believed it would be easier to break Collins into the NFL as an OG than an OT. With Free being decent, they had the luxury of bringing Collins along slowly. I suspect Collins to RT could very well be a possibility anyway down the road.

The dream lives on...

Undoubtedly the biggest investment of all time.

If the Rams guy is Goff, i immediately call CLE about their pick.

I'm not sure what people are looking for when it comes to QB prospects.

Wentz is no RG3, he's smart, big, athletic and has a huge arm, what else do you want? The rest is simply being responsible about his development.

And if he doesn't work out you try again because you simply cannot win without a good QB. All the picks in the world invested into a ground game, tight defense or pass rush is not going to get you anywhere, over the long run, without one.

The alternative is to poach someones hand me down for 20 million a year and hope.

Agreed. And then you can really start the talk of teams reaching.

So if he's "no RG3", why is Cleveland trading the pick?

All evidence to the contrary.

If that's their honest thinking, they deserve to burn for it.

As long as they own the team and he fills his stadium, sells his goods, pockets millions each year, why would
he concern himself about what we think or the fans think. He's laughing all the way to the bank.
