Rams get #1 overall

At some point the law of diminishing returns kicks in. How much better does Tunsil make an OL that is already arguably the most dominant in the league? Factor in the cost of neglecting another position as well.

It makes little sense. Trade the pick then if you don't like anyone else at #4.

I think it makes good sense to me. Free is obviously this line's weakest link and you would be turning that into another strength. He's also closing in on his last legs. You draft Tunsil and you can upgrade and secure the position for 4 years minimum.

You then have a line with virtually no weaknesses or point of attack for defenses. Completely balance with strength throughout, virtually eliminating any forced tendencies. Truly a pick-your-poison for opposing defense's.

not really, Tunsil could drop out of the top 10 if he's not taken in the first 3 picks. I would take Elliot or Lynch if I was the Cowboys.

No way. Top tackle talent is a huge premium these days. If Tunsil is there when we pick, you can bet that someone will be on the phone with JJ making a deal to grab him. That being said, I think Tunsil goes to SD and we grab Ramsey. Jack is a strong possibility too if his medical check clears. I would love Ramsey or Jack. Flexibility, flexibility, flexibility!!!

I agree, and I feel the same about DB. They a lot invested in the DB, and while they haven't panned out very well, the investment is still there. The talent is there I just think the coaching and developing these players is not.

well you can. but how effective they will be is the next phase up. :) i do agree you have to improve your odds which is why i wasn't against a qb at 4. however< NOW - lynch or cook in the 2nd would be sweet.

I'm not a fan of either have one, or this staff's ability to teach them.

If the Rams take Wentz, maybe Risen is right when he says Wentz is a better prospect than Luck was. hmmm

The QB position is only going to get worse in the college ranks too. So it doesnt look good for our future at all. Then again, who knows what QB will be around when Romo is done.

I was thinking about this the other day. With all the read option offenses in DIV I, when will the NFL have to start adapting? It suddenly appears that the drop-back, pocket passers are becoming far less common.

Precisely

DAMN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This kills BOTH of my dream scenarios at once.

Wanted Wentz at 4 or trade down with Rams for a 2nd and 3rd.

Now what???

DAMN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah this stinks! Looks like Ramsey or Bosa most likely...

Remember when the Rams were geniuses for trading down with the Commanders for RGIII? Well, they figured out they're aren't going anywhere with a boatload of good players and Austin Davis or Case Keenum as their quarterback. That's going to be what the Cowboys look like not long from now.

Brandon Allen or Chad Henne? I think we probably should go with Henne.

The reality is that he probably doesn't make the OL that much better.

I see no "reality" to that statement at all. He would replace Doug Free, an average starter at best and far and away this team's weakest link. You're comparing this draft's best tackle (and widely considered the best player) to a guy who you probably couldn't trade away if you wanted to.

You are right.......... Dallas does have other draft picks............... so they can take a RT with one of those instead of using another premium pick on an OL that likely doesn't improve the OL greatly to begin with.

It would be bizarre to take Tunsil (or any OL) at 4.

It wouldn't be the ideal scenario, but if the top player in the draft falls to you, even at an overall area of strength, it's not unwise to draft the best player available.

I would too unless it was a position we already had and we already have a offensive line.

You think it would be smart to have most of our money tied up into a line? Most teams find right tackles in the later rounds a and win games. Why are we the exception?

Bad typing. Wouldn't be smart. Can't tie that much up in oline

I think they gave up too much personally.

But it always amazes me how some fans cant grasp the concept of how the Cowboys should take a QB #4 if they have the chance and a franchise guy is there. The Rams give up two years worth of 1st,2nd, and 3rd rounders to get their guy. News flash..................franchise QB's are the most important thing in football. If you dont have to give up a kings ransom to get the next one and you have the chance at the #4 pick, you HAVE to take him. NOT a RB, NOT a CB, but take the franchise guy. Sadly, it looks like we may not even get the chance this year. Maybe this trade will put things in perspective for those that wanted to NOT take a QB at #4.

this is what we will have to do in the near future to replace Romo......... some here think that drafting Ramsey, Bosa or Jack this year will keep us from having to do this in the next year or two.
