Rams offensive failure

Exactly, Belichick was apparently not as impressed with Goff as a lot of people on this board. He knew Goff couldn't handle the pressure and dared him to beat them. Fact is, neither Brady or Goff were that impressive yesterday. . .
Same thing we should have done. Our Defensive game plan all year had been taking away the run. Make a qb beat you. Every time we got close to goff he made a bad throw. How we didn’t key on that or sell out to the run when we were getting gashed is beyond me.

They didnt use him in the last game either,i got to figure he is still hurt because it makes no sense.

Or, there's something else going on. Maybe he's not happy with the Rams and wants to be traded. They may be protecting him knowing that if he gets hurt his value will plummet. . .

With the Patriots playing zone, Elliott and the offensive line would have had to been exceptional in the game. Dak has trouble reading zone defenses.

Or maybe they would have used it as the time to make Dak run more.

They didn’t establish the run, and really didn’t make more than a token attempt to do so. This allowed the Pats to just keep coming after Goff. Interestingly enough, as stale and predictable as the Cowboys offense was, their standard game plan would have worked better than what the Rams offense did in this game. Pounding the rock with the great RB would have likely yielded results over the course of the game, and would have taken pressure off the young QB to perform in the face of a relentless pass rush. Instead they put it all on Goff to deal with instead of sharing the burden with what had been an elite running game over the season.

If it was the Cowboys who lost 13-3 fans on here would call it a JG failure for not running Zeke more often or a DP failure for being inaccurate. We're kinder to the Rams than our own :muttley:

I don't buy it. Gurley could not have been right. Why would your HC,unless he is a complete moron, basically bench his bell cow stud rb...whom you've built the team around, and play the 2nd stringer? COME NOW...I think we are all smarter than that. YES...maybe Gurley should have played more..but it had to have been because of injury concerns.

Girly needs a knee adjustment or an attitude adjustment. Something wasn't right that's a given. Hey, Bellichik benched an MVP CB last year. Attitude

The Pats game plan was simple. They knew none of the Rams CB's could cover Edelman one on one so they went Brady to Edelman over and over. Brady was sacked ONCE! ONCE! On defense they took away the run. Simple plan. Knew that Goff couldn't beat them. Not complicated and their players played it to the letter. Boring maybe, simple maybe but effective. On top of that the Rams should not have been in that game. Karma is a beotch. How our D allowed the Rams RB's to gash them is beyond me

Belichick's gameplans have gotten the job done against some pretty special offenses in the Super Bowls before. Maybe people assumed that was a thing of the past after the Pats gave up so many points to the Eagles or let the Falcons jump out to that 28-3 lead. I dunno.

But McVay and this year's Rams just join a list that includes some great offenses. They're not even the best Rams offense on that list.
