Oh no, Mara is probably going to be pissed about this!! That's not very competitively balanced. If you are going to screw over the Commanders, you must also screw over the Cowboys. We are probably going to lose that fifth round pick now.

Good to know that Dallas can thank the Commanders for only giving up their 2nd because the Rams were already comfortable from all the picks they got from Snyder and Shanny.

Now, with the Rams on the clock, Jones told Demoff he'd make the deal for Dallas' first- and second-round selections: 14th and 45th overall. The Rams' COO hung up and briefly discussed the trade with Fisher and Snead, reviewing a value chart assigning points to specific picks. Then he called Jones back and said, "Stephen, it's Kevin. Would you throw in your five? … Come on. … What will you throw in as a cherry on top?"

Um … nothing.

Demoff laughed. "Alright," he said, "we'll call you right back."

I assumed they wanted a 5 because that would balance the trade charts. But as we know, those things are only general guides and not set in stone.

The trade still ended up almost balanced (we paid 1550 instead of the chart's 1600). FWIW

I think it says a lot, that it was Stephen who took control and made the trade.
