Rams were 4-12 2016

And we were 13-3 see what getting a new coach does, by the way how does that make you feel, that in 2 years they kicked this teams *** easily?
I look at it this way. The Rams gave the Cowboys their best shot and really caught Garrett's group off balance. The Cowboys, though beaten physically and fairly, were a couple of plays away from turning that game into a different outcome.

Cowboys were 4-12 in 2015 and 13-3 in 2016. See how easy it is to cherry pick? Now tell us how many coaches hired since 2016 have done nothing, and in some cases already got fired.

I'm not defending JG. Just saying "new coach" doesn't automatically mean success, especially not in Dallas (how many coaches since the last CCG?).

Goff was written off a bust by many and looked terrible under Fisher. Insert McVey and he is now a completely different player. Although in both playoff games he has looked pretty subpar and he is very bad under pressure, he still is much better than what he was a rookie. Coaching matters.

This.

The Rams also enjoyed better draft positioning between 2012-2016.

Not discounting that Coaching made a big difference, but I am going to suggest that Garrett is a far better coach than Jeff Fisher was. The Rams also understand that getting players isn't just a function of the draft (something the Cowboys are very slow in figuring out).

A top 3 OL and top 3 run game make most QBs look a lot better. I haven't watched any Rams games other than the playoff one, but based on that the Cowboys actually ask a TON more of Dak than the Rams do of Goff.

And that is all coaching. McVey plays to Goff's strengths. We don't with Dak. Running the same offense we have had since 2007 that was for Romo.

Dallas will still have Garrett and that OC.. So, that 4-12 Garbage means nothing.

No, it isn't. Their top 3 OL is a top 3 OL for the same reason the Cowboys' OL was top 3 between 2014-2016. Prioritization and scouting (although coaching helped - there was a clear drop between Callahan and Pollack in 2015, but that season was doomed from the moment Romo's collarbone snapped).

  • Andrew Whitworth, starting LT, signed during the 2017 offseason
  • Rodger Saffold, starting LG Homegrown talent who they drafted in 2010 and has been an excellent tackle and guard for them since.
  • John Sullivan, starting Center, acquired in 2017 as a free agent. Despite being a promising player for the Vikings, he had injury concerns, but has paid off.
  • Austin Blyth, starting RG, acquired in 2017 off waivers
  • Rob Havenstein, Starting RT, drafted 2015 by the rams.

Look at the acquisition history. 3 of 5 starters acquired after the signing of McVay, and he landed all of them (not to mention they stayed healthy). I'm not going to suggest that scheme and coaching don't play a part, but they went out and got pieces they felt they needed. ANd it worked out.

We were 5-11 in 2015 and 13-3 in 2016, the Rams also bought and traded for almost every high profile free agent they could this offseason.

..ouch!! Blatantly put my friend. Your team goes as your HC goes. Where does that leave us?

See what going crazy in FA can do for you

Exactly, just as the Eagles did last year before. Sometimes buying a championship caliber team works and it sure as hell helps make the coaches job easy with very good players.
