We sucked, but after watching the first half again, we didn't suck as bad as I thought we had. Offensively some missed blocks, inopportune penalties and some timing issues with Dak and his receivers can all be blamed on the lack of preseason snaps. That, of course, is a coaching issue. Or maybe I should say a lack of coaching issue. We should see a huge improvement this week. If we don't, it could be a loooooong season.

I'm predicting Elliott winning the battle of the runners, and the offense scoring 21 points...(coughing loudly). Two turnovers, and I'm restraining - tossing a brick at my tellie...Eli with get his 200+, Prescott...150.:flagwave:

Our D held Cam and supposedly a good offense to 16 points on their home turf.

Cam was 17 for 26 for 161 yards. He was sacked 3 times.
Dak, 19-29 for 170 years, sacked 6 times. Some on him, some on the OL. He was inaccurate too often also.

Last week, Eli was 23-37, sacked 2 times, and had 224 yards. So we will need to get pressure on him, and he is not Cam back there to get away from our pass rush.
Bortles was 18-33 for 178 yards against their D.

Hard to tell about the NY rushing D, as Fournette went out early, this effected a lot. Yeldon was 14 for 51 yards.

Zeke was 15 for 69 yards, an average of 4.6 YPC.
Barkely for NY was 18-106 for 5.9 YPC, but take out the 68 yard run, and then he is 17-38 for 2.2 YPC.

So the naysayers will take the 5.9, and say he is a HOF RB already. Others will lookout it, keep him contained, and he is nothing special. However, look at Zeke's 1st 2 games of his career. Anyway, get to Eli, and stop the run.

On offense, we just need to be better all the way around.

Last week is done, I am ready to look forward to the next game, then go from there. Which is why I posted this above.

Isn't it funny that week 2 becomes a must win. I really think the psychology of this team is thin. A nice home win vs. the Giants will set them up for an easy first Q schedule. Another loss and this thing can implode.

They (they will become we again when they have a winning record) are at home, inside against a lesser D than CAR but a more effective O so the D will come into play more and I was surprised at how they could move the ball on JAX and the Beckham'/Ramsey showdown wasn't. Ramsey should shut up until he shuts down the better WRs, which is what he's supposed to do.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but the psychology of the team is a direct reflection of the so called head coach.

Zeke's missed block in pass pro was also huge. Dak started misfiring after his first sack. He probably had an Atlanta flashback.
Agreed.

But for the sake of his career, Dak needs to get over it. It's become a mental thing with him. He is paralyzed inside the pocket.

Coaches need to help him by running RPO's and rolling him out. But he needs to become decisive when he is in the pocket. As another poster said: he's so afraid of making mistakes that he's making mistakes.

It takes a mental level to build all else in a team's game. Emotion is a big part of football...handling it at least is.

Passive play...

Here are Dak’s passing yards in the last 10 games:

• 249
• 176
• 145
• 179
• 102
• 332
• 212
• 181
• 179
• 170

Let’s do some math. He failed to reach the 200-yard mark seven times. He earned 200 yards or more only three times in the last 10 contests.

To quote somebody here abouts: same OC, same Head Coach (Jerry endorsed or not)

Those look like numbers from the 1970's days when CB's could maul WR's and knock their heads off over the middle. Numbers like that in the friendly skies of today's NFL are absolutely putrid. They are in fact embarrassing. On second thought, even those numbers are low for the 1970's. Yikes, Dak sucks.
