Did you know that Randall Williams is now a TE for the Raiders? That's amazing! He was so fast, how is he going to do now? I'm sure Roy will send a message or two over the middle to good old Randall.

You have to at least try and catch the ball before roy can send a message. A TE that can run 15 yards by a LB and drop it doesn't do the offense any good. Failed experiment and another reason they are 0-3.

I don't know...Al Davis took another Cowboys reject and turned him into an All-Pro -- Todd Christensen. I doubt it happens twice though.

Todd Christensen was always able to catch the ball. Catching the ball will always be Randle's problem. If he had problems catching balls down the field when the velocity is going down, I don't think he will far well with those fast balls that come at TE.

Roy will have to get his licks in on Special Teams, because I don't think Randall sees the field much on offense.

Good for Randall, imagine him learning to catch and then learning to play TE the Witten way, downfield against a small linebacker, man, he could be something. Chances are he wont learn to do this, but ya never know.

He will just another very small, no catch/no block tight end that can run fast.........how will he be able maintain his health?

He'll be the fastest TE in the history of the game.

With all that raw physical ability, I was always rooting for him. I hope the new position will help (though unlikely).

The dude has one reception in 38 games. I'm not sure there is anything more to say about it.

Worse than not being able to catch a ball is the fact Randal can't get in and out of his routes. And that's a damn shame. At least if he could do that much, he'd force NFL defenses to be accountable when he's on the field.

To his credit, he's still a quality special teams presence. I believe he blocked a punt in the opener vs. the Patriots. Ol' Coach Joe still loves him some Randal Williams.

I always felt that he should have been moved to safety, or bulked up to play TE.

I don't think he would have been a starter at either position, but I think a team would have been able to get more use from him as a backup in either position.

Because he won't have to concentrate as hard on his route running from the TE position, it just may help him relax and catch the ball better.

How is Randall Williams still in the NFL. And why are there still threads about him in a Cowboys forum.

Talk about 9 lives...sheesh!

I believe Christiansen was a slow-footed backup running back for the Cowboys. I think it was John Madden that made him to tight end.

Let's just hope good old Randall doesn't run right past Roy for a TD...Roy should be covering TEs.

This is not the whole story. When Christensen was drafted by us in 78, he was a second round pick. He played FB and we asked him to change positions. We wanted to play him at TE. Christensen flat out refused to change positions. I think he was cut in training camp. He then went to the NYG, I believe and they too wanted him to be a TE. Landed in Oakland and guess what? They wanted him to be a TE. He finally made the position change and the rest is history.

When Christenson was with the Cowboys he was a runningback and that is what he wanted to be. When Landry wanted to convert him to a tight end he refused claiming he was best at the runningback position. That resulted in the Cowboys trading him, After again being traded to the Raiders where he utimately became a Pro Bowl tightend after failing to again make a impact at runningback. So while he was a Cowboy reject it was only because he refused to play tightend for Coach Landry....
