Update: Randle El, who will be a free agent after the season, will be the Bears' top priority this offseason, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Recommendation: In addition to giving the Bears another speed receiver, Randle El also could be the third-string quarterback on game days, saving the team an active roster spot. Though the former Hoosier's recent success likely has driven up his asking price, Chicago is in excellent salary-cap shape and will be willing to pay top dollar for this versatile talent.



Still would like to have him but I just don't see the Cowboys really going after him.

If Chicago could get him, with already having Muhammad, Chicago could really produce again next year.

I'd be surprised if Cowher lets him get out of Pittsburgh- however, if they win the SB, Rooney might have a fire sale- dunno about that guy- he's not the wealthiest owner and the city is pretty dirt poor, so who knows?

the 3rd qb is not an active roster spot player. he becomes active if he is put in a game and then the other guy can't come back. so it's no real, help except for trick plays. he's a nice reciever but this draft has some nice recievers for alot less money

I really like this kid -- so long as we understand that he's a #2 receiver and he should be paid that sort of money. But someone is going to give him #1 receiver money. And he'll flop in that role -- just like every #2 or #3 guy who got paid to be a #1.

I wish we would have traded up a couple more spots in 2002 to grab him instead of Bryant.

Randle El will cost too much & will NOT be worth the money (IMO).

Also, after every pass that he doesn't catch, he is probably the WORSE player always asking for a flag. I see most Pittsburgh games (except when Dallas plays at the same time) & it is comical - even all my Steeler friends laugh because if Randle El doesn't catch it, he is yelling at the refs. Many others do it too BUT he is doing it all the time & it really gets annoying.

In the Super Bowl, watch him ask for a flag after Ben throws a pass 10 feet over his head (if Ben should happen to impersonate Slash on a play). You will be laughing along with me.

Coach Parcells has raved about him in the past.

no, he appeared to be a talented guy who dropped because of his questionable attitude. no one doubted his first round talent - but many teams didn't want the headache. he was expected to fall and he did. he might have been there in round 3 too. after the steelers passed on him most teams figured they knew something.

Obviously, Bryant didn't work out in Dallas, but he has still produced more than Randle-El. I am not sure if Dallas would be any better now with Randle-El or really any of the other receivers drafted in the first two rounds that year.

Obviously, Bryant didn't work out in Dallas, but he has still produced more than Randle-El. I am not sure if Dallas would be any better now with Randle-El or really any of the other receivers drafted in the first two rounds that year.

Production is relative though. Bryant has a knack for picking up lots of yards in garbage time. Also, he produces problems and requires constant attention from the staff and, sometimes other players. He's the only one of those 4 guys who insists on being "the guy" rather than being a role player.

Though when you talk about Randal-El, you need to acknowledge he 3300 plus yards of kickoff and punt returns, and the 5 tds he's scored in that capacity.
