It looks like Gocong isn't going to start, considering he missed Wednesday and Thursday with both hamstring and quad injuries suffered in the Giants game. His replacement will be someone named Moise Fokou, a rookie. I would run lots of two-TE sets so they can't replace him with a nickel safety and wear him out with both the run and the pass. The Eagles have had troubles with the TE all year long anyway.
I think Andy Reid is confident. He was unusually talkative on his conference call with the DFW media. Usually he just grunts a few short cliches, as if he'd rather be denied cheesesteaks the rest of his life than meet with this stupid media.
Like most people, I think this will be a shootout. They simply have too many weapons on O, and they have confidence right now. Not a good week for fans of defense.
Of course, how many times have we heard this said by everyone leading up to a game, and then it turns into a low-scoring game?
It still amazes me the Donovan McNabb is the lowest-rated passer vs. the blitz, or whatever that stat is. As big and strong as he is, and as well as he moves, you'd think he would be good at making someone miss and then hitting a big play. Guess not. I'm thinking he's so averse to throwing INTs that he simply throws the ball away and/or into the dirt.
Reading the papers up there, I think they could be overconfident. I saw a lot of sentiment that "Well, too bad about the Phillies, but nothing will make everyone feel better than whipping the Cowboys." Excellent.
I've said it every week, but could this be the week we see some Victor Butler or Curtis Johnson as a situational rusher?
It feels to me like we've stealthily gotten back to being a very physical football team on both sides of the ball. As big as their O-line is, the Eagles are still a finesse team overall. Maybe that will work at this point when the weather is still nice, but I still like being the bigger and stronger team and at some point it will pay off.
Hey Philly, meet Keith Brooking. And oh by the way, Bruce Read isn't in town anymore, either. Enjoy.
