Been there and if you want a lesson in paying attention to the road, I've got a about 6 Idaho roads I can suggest. First time we went up above the Payette River above Boise, I don't think my wife and I took a breath until we were over the mountain. The topography and beauty of Idaho is unmatched in my experience.

That is awesome!! Yeah, Idaho has some very rugged terrain which makes it very difficulty to carve a highway through it. Glad you had a chance to visit though!

From the looks of it, some kind of plastic or composite material. A heavy wood gate designed like that wouldn't function long before it started having problems.

That gate was for privacy and look rather than security, I reckon. Maybe sheet metal. Still not secure, but light enough to last a long time. Some composites are pretty sturdy and could stand up to some punishment.
