- It seemed on 2 of the Giants' sacks that Murray whiffed on protection. One of them was Cullen Jenkins up the middle and the second was where it appeared like Free took the inside man and the LE came free to sack Romo.
- The drop off from Sean Lee is precipitous. Sims and company were slow to the hole leaving huge running lanes.
- I love Troy but he is painful to listen to in these games.
- I would like to see more slants and back shoulder throws.
- Sometimes the feel for the game gets away from our OC, we are too quick to abandon the running game especially when you could feel we had them on their heels before they mounted their comeback.
- Kyle Wilber looked explosive.
- On Hatch's first sack at the goal line I thought the ref was going to flag him for excessive celebration.
- The "drop" by Dez at the end of the game was an atrocious non-review. I was beside myself. If you are going to decide which plays are reviewed within the last two minutes and take it out of coaches' hands then you better damn well have a low threshold for reviewing a play. That was flat out absurd.
- Dunbar is explosive but needs to have a little more patience and set up his blockers.
- Seeing little Cole Beasley fielding punts made me nervous.
- Carter made my blood boil on the lackadaisical non-touch touchdown. If we weren't down half our LB corps he should have sat after that play (at least for a series).
- The only thing more fun than watching Eli sulk is watching Coughlin blow a gasket.

My own observation is that Leary has either hit a wall (not used to playing 16 game schedule) or is regressing. I chose to think he just hit that wall, same with Fred.

Agree with every. single. point. Including Aikman - man that is sad that I feel like one of my football hero's is a ****** in the booth.

I think Fred is still learning. His position is much more complex than Leary's and he still wasn't abused that much. He had the one blown sack and overthrow facing a very good dline. If he continues the pattern then I will think something is up. What I think happened is that he saw how Leary was having a problem all game and started jumping to help him a little too quickly. He is very good and I believe that the issue will be corrected.

We have to realize that, especially against that DLine, even good players are going to get beat every now and then. Leary didn't play that well, but he an Fred are not really huge concerns going forward.

I agree. I think both players are adjusting to a longer season since both are first-year starters. I think they will be fine.

Leary is not an starting NFL calibre guard. Neither is Bernadeau. At best, they are both decent backups.

After the d-line, the guard positions need to be seriously addressed in the offseason.

I want to thank the giants OC for not running the ball more than they did. The run game was working for them but at times they would go away from it when they could have kept getting 5-10 yards per run. So thank you :)

Well, since both are starting… :D

I do agree, though, with your second comment.

He did not look good.

But at the same time, I will hand out some praise for someone I have often criticized, Bernardeau. I thought the drop off from Waters to him would have been huge, but I think Berny's doing a pretty nice job.

Credit where credit's due.

RC,
Saw a lot of the same things.

a few notes tho.
The Dez catch wasn't a catch. It should be but the moronic rule was called correctly.
They didn't want guys fumbling on catches as they hit the ground so they made the silly control the ball throughout contact with the ground rule.
They ruled Dez didn't "complete" the catch and it's a judgment call. No replay.

Frederick: He is a rookie and no where near in his prime. He's by far the best OC we've had since Gurode was making Pro Bowls but he's far from perfect.

Leary just isn't that great right now. The wall may well be the physical beating of all the games catching up. But after a Bye week to be this bad was not a good sign.
It is a shame we don't have Bern on the bench ready to roll in there.

I have tuned Aikman out for a good while. He's professional in the booth but very boring at best.

I agree. He looks to be playing more physical. Maybe Waters rubbed off on him after all.

My own random observation: those 2 kneel-downs at the end made me nuts. I was out in the Jersey winds yesterday, and I wanted Bailey as close to those goal posts as possible. Yes, bad things can happen even on "safe" run plays. But that wind was wild. Thankfully, Bailey was not only up to the challenge, but split those goal posts so you could see in a millisecond that the kick was good.

They couldn't run in the red zone.
That's why they ended up kicking field goals.
They were torturring us with it on 1st and 2nd down but fairly week on 3rd down runs and in the red zone.

They got the passing going to put points on board.
Both TDs were passing plays.

I wish they would have stuck with the run and kicked more field goals.
Would have been alot less stress on me, lol.

In a previous game they tried running actual run plays only to get blown up for big losses.
And throwing into a nasty wind was an even bigger gamble.
It wasn't win or lose on the kick, it was win or tie.

It was the right call to set that kick up with no time and in Bailey's preferred spot to kick from; that kick was so down the middle wind had no chance to effect it short of a monsoon.

Don't agree on Frederick, but, yeah, Leary has not looked good the last three weeks. There's an issue there.

Yep, the red zone defense definitely stiffened up against the run inside the 10. Including that ridiculous third down draw play on the Giant's second scoring drive. I was happy to let them run for the most part, as long as we were trading touchdowns for fgs. It's not fun to watch, but it's better than giving up big plays in the passing game.
