I feel like we're trying to plug our fingers in the dam. And as soon as we stop one leak, a new one inevitably springs up.

This offense was functional when we had a bad *** O line and everything went through Zeke. Since then Tyron has regressed, Leary is gone, Frederick is gone, Martin is still there and Collins is sub par. The O line has taken massive steps backwards and Zeke takes a back seat to shot gun city as a result. The offense used to be simple and repeatable. Now we are a gimmick.

Wow!!

While it’s only one game the defense defintely appears to be much improved. Sadly, the offense has nosedived.

Nice to see the defense finally carry some weight. Despite our offense being truly offensive, they did hold onto the ball and averaged 2:56 seconds per drive (8th best in the league). So we kill clock and don't put points on the board like 2015. It was especially frustrating watching the play clock dwindle down when we were down 2 scores and seemed like there was a lack of urgency. While we picked up the pace a little, it was still much too slow.

Tyron had injury problems. I don't know if that is the case this year or not.
He did have more than one penalty but read an interesting tweet that said he has started the season with multiple penalties in the first game to go on to 5 probowls so who knows.

Keep in mind Zeke had ZERO carries with this line in preseason games. ZERO.
That is with two new linemen playing.

Plus as you noted them going to the pass too often.

Plus The Panthers being one of the best teams vs run...some people forget that the panthers have not allowed an individual rusher a 100 yard game in 20 or so games.

I think if we just had to worry about the Rookie we would be ok. If we just had to worry about Looney being the new guy in the middle we would be ok.
Problem is we are dealing with two of them in the middle and neither is good enough to take care of the other. Which frankly makes me wonder if it continues if they will wind up moving Martin to Center so he can help one of the OGs on his either side depending on which way the ball is being run.

I don't think Lal is as bad as some thing. However I also don't think he is good enough to do his job and help cover up a Rookie who needs to get bigger, stronger, more exp at the position and again...being a Rookie who is nowhere as good as a Zack Martin or Freadbeard as a rook.

I believe going forward we will have more success running the ball. However that also depends of Linehan and Dak not getting too cute and trying to keep calling pass plays or audible out of the run too much.
