Read some stuff here, but not too much since this SOB is still stinging so bad. So I don't know if this has been covered.

First off. If you can get past the pain and agony of this loss, the frustration of having it in our hands just to let it slip away.......
Then much like the Jets game, you can take alot away from this disaster to see why we may be a very good team. One fully capable of finishing with 11 or 12 wins.

I don't think we lose without both the pick 6's, but I don't know it to be fact. I've seen far too many teams sit on far too many leads allowing a beaten down foe to get momentum and back in the game.

Those two plays were 3rd down converstion attempts that we needed. Maybe not so much the 1st one, which was really all on Romo, but certainly the 2nd one to get the momentum back.

The third INT leads to my 2nd point. Have we forgotten Romo is playing with crackeds ribs? He's not 100% and I think it was obvious on a number of throws that lacked noticable zip. I believe the decision to go to Witten on the 3rd INT was correct. Witten was open, Tony just didn't get enough on it.

Cant do right now!! I am so upset with Romo. My wife cant even stand me right now. I have not been like this in years. She tried to console me, but not happening at least for now.

I like this a lot. Realistically, I think the first pick was the worst one. I don't really know what he saw. The 2nd one is one the WR and the third was just a poor throw, those physical mistakes will happen regardless of the QB, it's just a tough one.

People are going to think Tony had a complete mental breakdown and blahdy blahdy blah and made a bunch of bad decisions. But the decision making wasn't his problem at all today other than the first pick.

I don’t have a problem with the playcalling in the second half. Detroit was playing with 8 in the box daring the Cowboys to throw. My problem is Romo does not understand situational football. You can throw high percentage passes. The ones he threw were dangerous and the second one was to a player he has hardly worked with.

You can make whatever excuses or “shackles, lol” you want. Romo is careless/cocky when he has a lead. He doesn’t get it. Why this team will never advance to anything special.

Also, maybe the offense needs to practice tackling. Horrible job of getting the guys down.

Rob Ryans D-fense is now ranked #3 in the league. Held Stafford to 240 yards passing. #1 ranked defense against the rush.

My wife learned to leave me alone. But she has turned into such a fan, she was cussing out Romo to! However, she does not carry it with her. I will be severely pissed off probably until Wednesday.

Of course the decision making is his problem. He is the one making the decision to throw a pass into tight coverage. When your up, there is nothing wrong with throwing the ball away, punting it over and letting your defense go to work. Up to his boneheaded play, the mighty Lions had 3 points. Did we really need to push the ball down the field for more points???

I've wanted to start a thread similar to this. I like the gist of what you're saying.

It's the damnedest thing. Watching Romo today, he didn't look overly mistake-prone. He was very solid for the most part. Then he made a few mistakes. Repeat: a FEW mistakes. And the Lions capitalized 100% on those mistakes.

I swear, when I watch football in general, the QB generally gets away with several mistakes/game. Bad throws that could've been disasters. Bad decisions that could've been turnovers. Tipped balls that could've been mere incompletions. Etc.

But watching Romo today as well as vs. the Jets, it's crazy how the FEW bad plays Tony makes, the other team completely capitalizes on them. I mean, the guy was lights out until FINALLY he makes an awful decision and it led to a Bobby Carpenter pick-six. Are you kidding me!?

Still his fault. Still poor decisions/plays on his part. But I really believe that most of the time, QBs get away with a few of those each game. Seems like Romo didn't get away with any today or vs. the Jets. Is it really fair to ask the guy to play a perfect game week in and week out?

Nice post OP...thanks for sharing. Yes, this one stings like hell but it isn't the end of the world. The 3rd int happened because Romo was avoiding pressure up the middle and threw off of his back foot while backing up. The decision to pass to Witten was correct because he got behind the coverage and was open...If Romo made the throw with both feet planted then Witten catches it and goes for a large gain.

I think you make a good point here in that the results of the first two passes were catastrophic - easily could have been a lot less damage. On one of them the LB makes a good read and the catch wasn't a gimme and then he puts in the return of his life. On the second the CB makes an incredibly difficult INT and then manages to return it for a TD. It easily could have been a lot less damage. Usually pick sixes are comebacks where the player has a flying start and no one could catch him but that wasn't really the case on either of those plays - very odd.

On the 3rd INT he actually has Witten wide open but couldn't get the ball out there. I think the reason he isn't able to make the throw is partly due to the inside pressure and partly due to the flak jacket - anything that immobilizes you is going to interfere with your throwing mechanics from an awkward position. I don't know if Romo makes that play with good ribs and normal pads but I'm guessing he puts enough on it that it at least falls incomplete. It's a shame because if he hits that pass Witten is probably in Lions territory and we are in excellent position to ice the game.

Nice post, but a small point of contention; wasn't the first int on first down?

As a follow up to an earlier post. Both the first and 3rd ints came on first down. Those are the most frustrating types of plays for me because you still have plenty of opportunities to make plays later in the drive if you need to.

Yes, it was the first play of that possession.

Losing sucks, but didn't it suck worse this time last year?

Yeah, I think it did.

I hope you'll see this tomorrow. Is it worth that?

Here you have a spouse who you declared before the public to be the woman that brings you joy. And yet you're letting Romo's performance come in between that?

If I was spending the rest of my life with the woman I loved, I wouldn't let the outcome of an inconsequential Week 4 game come in between us like that.

The third interception was by far the worst of the three, IMHO.

A cross body throw, off his back foot, into the middle of the field-- brutal, and not one a QB of his experience should ever make, ribs or no ribs.

As AdamJT13 mentioned in another thread that play being on first down and not coming off of play action, was also a real headscratcher.

yes it was. And here is the thing. I believe Tony saw Carpenter. But thought Carpenter could not get it. The 2nd one was on the WR. The third would have been a big play in Romo could get something on the throw.

Those 1st down interceptions just drive me nuts. As far as the 3rd int, it wouldn't have counted either way, as we had a holding call against us. Now Romo couldn't have known that, so in his eyes he was trying to make a play. I admire him wanting to win the game for us, and you cant fault him for trying. Those are just one of the situations where, as a team/organization, you have to protect against the huge negative play.

Things had been spiraling out of control for the last quarter and a half and Detroit had all of the momentum. As a coach, you had to sense the nerves beginning to tighten up in your players. It would make sense to find a safe play or two to calm the team down before beginning to take shots. Now this isn't to say that I am blaming Garrett for the actual play called, the Cowboys got the matchup they wanted, it just comes down to a difference in philosophy in that situation.

Moving onto the field, Romo has to either be certain he is going to be able to put enough on that pass, or get rid of the ball elsewhere(even if it would mean throwing at the feet of a reciever as a throw OOB in the pocket would be grounding.) I know that the protection on that play was abysmal, and it's not fair to say it was only Romo who failed on the play, but as a veteran leader, you have to make the smart decisions to preserve your lead and keep your team in the best position possible to win the ballgame.

I know no one really wants to hear this right now, and as cliched as it is, Garrett is still an inexperienced HC with a team that is still adjusting. Today was an experience that I am confident that he will learn from, and keep with him throughout his coaching tenure. It is apparent that as "green" as Red is, he has this team ready to play, and both sides of the ball have wonderful gameplans.(having leads in the 4th qtr or OT of each game speaks to this, as does the good starts that we have typically had on each side of the ball). He will learn the nuances of the position as he goes, and when he and his team gain enough game-earned wisdom, the Dallas Cowboys are going to be a team that will be respected for years to come.
