Random thoughts on Cowboys offense

I am wondering if the offense has gotten enough playing time in preseason. Sometimes in the past they haven't looked ready in the middle of the season, are they going to be ready for the start of the season? We have new WRs and new TEs. Zeke hasn't played a down and we will probably have a new Center and LG when the season starts. Its too late to do anything about it now but if they start slow its going to be a legitimate question for the coaches.

Chaz Green is horrible at OT. He can't block anyone. He doesn't have the movement to be a tackle. They should have left him at OG. Now, he should just be cut and probably will be. Then again, other than Looney, which backup OL looks dependable? I can see Dallas signing someone off the waiver wire.

I don't see a TE on this team who is going to contribute consistently. Since game 4 is for all the scrubs, why not let Gathers play the entire game and see what he can do? I don't get Jerry Jones comment that he worries about who he cuts to keep Gathers on the team. He should worry about who he keeps! The current group of TE are just guys.

Huge swing and a miss by a FO that says it learned its lesson about OL depth after last year. It’s just as bad this year as last

They totally should have known that they'd lose one of the depth signings and a starter. We started with enough depth that we'd likely have cut a guy who got claimed by another team.

Three FA signings and a high pick on OL. What else could you ask for?

Linehan is still predictable as ever.

Your scheme should not be ever player beats their guy one on one every time. Needs schemes to get guys open and be creative.

Play action bootleg on every first down lol

Dude come on you're being unreasonable. They did enough to try to improve our OL depth. Some of the guys just aren't performing as well as we envisioned

Exactly!

Cameron Fleming - starting tackle in the super bowl
Marcus Martin - depth guy
Kadeem Edwards - developing guy
Joe Looney - Thank god they brought back Jumbo Joe!

I think Edwards has looked decent.

Have no idea what's going on with Fleming. He played better this week but hasn't approached his level of play with the Patriots.

If I’m not mistaken, didn’t he play RT for New England and was playing LT for us while Turnstile Green played RT?

Football is a war of attrition.
Get used to it folks.

It's always a war of limited resources (players that can play at an acceptable level), limited amount of money you're allowed to pay them and 31 competitors that are looking to gain an advantage over you.

I'm thinking that this OL coach is instilling different lessons than the Patriots OL coach (who's almost above reproach) and he's having issues with what this team wants him to do.
That's just a guess.

Agreed.

Most on this board were thrilled with the Fleming signing.

It’s seems Fleming is average. But pats coach guys up. Doesn’t happen here.

Well for a swing tackle... I think you have to accept "average". If a guy is good then he's going to be a starter somewhere.

But I think so far he's been below that.

No I don’t think we got enough work in preseason. The TC have been weak across the NFL since the new CBA. Seems like maybe since it’s happened that injuries are up during the season. First part of the season is sloppy because teams aren’t ready. We have had some scares on our O-Line so we shut it down till regular season. We will come out either flat or not crisp. We didn’t get enough time at game speed for Dak to try to get on the same page with his new WR and TE. Our run game will hopefully keep us going. Our Defense should be improved and keep the score low from opposing teams. Gonna be a rocky start so we have to hold tough.

I'm trying to figure out when the Dak friendly offense and RPO deal that Dak referenced to all offseason and being like the Chiefs is coming in??

Are we just secretly waiting until the regular season? Smh.......

Agreed, but he played well for pats. Coaching matters
