Random thoughts on recent developments

All negatives which is your right to be that way.
You SEVERELY lack reading comprehension.

Bob said the following:
“Our offense has been top shelf behind Dak, George Pickens and Javonte Williams.”

How is that remotely “all negative” whatsoever?

Try to stop hating on fellow posters, and try actually reading what they say.

Yep. And if you disagree actually provide an argument not just personally attacking and insulting.

I’m surprised it’s allowed in this forum which is usually pretty thorough on violations .But I guess he’s paying for his get out of jail free card.

So let’s assume we don’t resign Pickens and or Williams. How does that change our prospects moving forward to next year?

Especially if we don’t have a top offense . The fact we have a top running back this year which I never dreamed possible changes everything for me this year.

I thought Dak would struggle without a running game. And having an awful defense would accommodate a poor offense totally dependent on throwing the ball , probably leading to a losing record.

But now it’s all changed for me with this offense . I’m in a win now mode. I dont see many offenses around the league more potent than this one right now. If only we could hold teams averaging less than 30 points a game .

A couple years out who knows what our offense will look like . And if we don’t resign Pickens or Williams we might be using some of those draft picks to replace them.

We didn’t use our Cap money on Micah. Let’s use it on these two now. Before it’s gets even more expensive.
Good call.
I have slowly convinced myself that the current elite level of this team's offense and special teams deserves to see what it can do IF 2 alfa FA defenders were signed.

Get an impact DE and LB and let's see where it takes us. Your reasoning of the future uncertainty regarding both the Williams and Pickens contracts is the deciding factor for me in acting now instead of in the future.
Strike while the iron is hot.
Go get us a couple of defensive playmakers please Jerry.

Just some random thoughts about the Cowboys, where they are right now and some challenges they face.
  • The Cowboys are 3-3-1 with just over 40% of the season done.
  • The team right now is exactly what our record says it is - mediocre. We need to at least win two games in a row before I can say this is a good team.
  • Our 3 wins are against teams with losing records - a combined 5-16.
  • Our 3 losses are against winning teams with a combined record of 13-7.
  • Our offense has been top shelf behind Dak, George Pickens and Javonte Williams. Our defense…was a little better Sunday.
  • On DeMarvion Overshown’s soon return- he injured his knee on Dec. 9th last year vs the bengals. It’s been 10 months and 12 days. With two knee surgeries in two years, I would be cautious about bringing him back too soon. We need him now of course but we need him long term too.
  • Trade talk right now is premature. The trade deadline is two weeks away. Win the next two against Denver and Arizona and it should be considered.
Just some random thoughts…
Keep your random thoughts to yourself.
Just kidding, old fellow.
I agree re Overshown. The risks of bringing him back too soon outweigh any short-term benefit.

The team could bring him back soon...and Overshown could blow out his knee the first game back.

The team could bring him back later...and Overshown could blow out his knee the first game back.

NFL teams have experts to sort out when a guy is ready. NFL is inherently perilous.

Spot on. My concern is that the escalation of these rumors are based around:

  • a Defense that improved when facing an opponents 4th and 5th WR's and is yet to prove it's a player, or two away rom going all the way
  • Jerry balking at the idea of the cost of re-signing Pickens
This talk of trading appears a smokescreen to placate the fanbase as he's not prepared to do what he should and that starts with nailing down this Offense (particularly Pickens). It's in his power to do BOTH, go ALL-IN for 2025 AND improve in 2026.

To me it all starts with Sundays game. If we beat Denver which is an away game and we look improved on Defense Im on board
If we go to Denver and look like we have on all our bumbling defense yoyo looks Im in for moving some of our players lets look to the draft.

To me trade talk is about ghe player, his contract and the cost. First I’m not trading both GB picks. I’m not trading either for a guy with less than 3 years on his contract. No trading high picks for a guy you then have to sign. That’s just not feasible. A guy on his last year who can help and won’t cost a high picks for I’d consider if we win Sunday. If we can’t win Sunday then I’d rather just keep my picks and build next year. Also there’s no one played gonna make this defense good, but the right player could make them avg and that’s just goid enough to get you in the playoffs with this offense
That's you (and I 1000% agree). I just don't trust the Joneses to be that smart.

At A&I we called him Icky.
I was 18 when I first went to A&I. If you had called me Icky back then, I would have thrown you out my second story window.....damn, to be young again. Lol
What's Icky, is that you know I went there. This stalking should concern the mods.....I had a hater send me a Pic of my dad's mailbox a few years ago. Now, that's Icky.

While it’s been 10 months I do believe DeMo’s work ethic and advancement in medicine has put him ahead of schedule. If he’s healthy and ready to play you play him, but you have to be smart and put him on a pitch count.

As far as trades are concerned I think we will know more after this weekend win or lose.

Yes mediocre, but the offense and Dak are playing at an insane level right now. I don’t think the record is what this team is right now because of the offense.
How can we discuss what the team is if we ignore the defense? I agree the offense is playing at an insanely high level, but we can't pretend the defense isn't playing at an insanely low level.

Here are a few rushing nuggets:

Run game with Tyler Booker=5.36 ypc; without Tyler Booker=4.6 ypc.
Run game in wins=5.3 ypc; run game in losses/ties=4.5 ypc.
