Random thoughts on recent developments

Great post. The offense is Marylin Monroe and the defense is Bea Arthur. Jerry better gets a lot more Marilyn's on the defense quick.

Just some random thoughts about the Cowboys, where they are right now and some challenges they face.
  • The Cowboys are 3-3-1 with just over 40% of the season done.
  • The team right now is exactly what our record says it is - mediocre. We need to at least win two games in a row before I can say this is a good team.
  • Our 3 wins are against teams with losing records - a combined 5-16.
  • Our 3 losses are against winning teams with a combined record of 13-7.
  • Our offense has been top shelf behind Dak, George Pickens and Javonte Williams. Our defense…was a little better Sunday.
  • On DeMarvion Overshown’s soon return- he injured his knee on Dec. 9th last year vs the bengals. It’s been 10 months and 12 days. With two knee surgeries in two years, I would be cautious about bringing him back too soon. We need him now of course but we need him long term too.
  • Trade talk right now is premature. The trade deadline is two weeks away. Win the next two against Denver and Arizona and it should be considered.
Just some random thoughts…
You're such a party pooper!

We got the chance to be super bowl bound baby! :lmao:

The Denver game won't tell us jack crap. This team is so inconsistent that they could easily beat a team that has a superior record and then fall flat and lose against a team with no hope.

What I expect? When the defense finally shows up, the offense will lay an egg. It's literally a roll of the dice with this team.

Yeah the trade talks I'm torn on how much they're going to let shotty see a need and they let him get that need
A real GM would see the needs!

He wouldn't need a rookie HC to advise him .

Here's a clue for the GM......you have the 32nd ranked defense that needs help at EVERY level of it.

CB, DT, LB, Safety.....take your pick.

It reminds me of the stock market during the pandemic.....just buy ANY cheap stock, they're all going to go up eventually!!!!

And yes, I made a small fortune on Airlines and Casino/Gaming stocks......I could have bought stock in butt plugs and it would have doubled

You're giving too much credit to Jerry lol see a need and we draft OT

You SEVERELY lack reading comprehension.

Bob said the following:
“Our offense has been top shelf behind Dak, George Pickens and Javonte Williams.”

How is that remotely “all negative” whatsoever?

Try to stop hating on fellow posters, and try actually reading what they say.
Rocky attends the Mickey Spags School of Eternal Optimism.

All negatives which is your right to be that way.

The defense showed improvement on Sunday. Hopefully they can keep improving.

The offense is currently the best in the NFL.

Some good players are coming back from injury and should help out going forward as they’ll need to knock of the rust.

The trade deadline line is approaching and all indications are that Jerry is trying to add some defensive help.

Aubrey continues to be a weapon of mass destruction and should get votes for MVP. Probably won’t but that’s how well he’s playing.

The HC has the locker room willing to go through walls for him. That bodes well going forward.
Totally agree. I am so impressed with Schotty. Those locker room scenes are reminiscent of the JJ locker rooms. The guys absolutely love him. We must be careful on trades. It appears neither Crosby nor Hendrickson will be available, so I think we have to go with who we have. The best two trades we could make would be for a very good MLB with Overshown coming back and either a great cover corner or great cover safety. I think that's about the most we could ever hope for, and even then, that wouldn't come cheap. But if they can buttress the run D more and add one more good cover guy to (gradually) replace Diggs, we can be top 15 in D, which is all it takes with this O.

exactly .

Another interesting random thought:
  • Since Jan, 2024, the Cowboys have played 25 games, including the bad packers playoff loss. Their record in those 25 games is 10-14-1.
Thanks, that is a better sample size.

The offense is on fire, but defense wins championships.

Tolbert, Diggs, Schoonmaker, Wilson and even my pet cat S. Williams are on the trading block right now. Take whatever you can get.

Sign Pickens, Aubrey, long term now and Williams to a 3 year deal (if possible).

New DC next year.

Two 1st's next year for a true MLB and D-line. If you can trade the 4-5 folks mentioned above, even if 3rd day picks you can still use them with any comp picks to move around the rest of the draft. Use them to move up and get a QB/RB combo in the 2nd and 3rd round.

2026 would give us good cap space and a bunch of picks for a run next year.

Did I miss anything?

Give this offense a top 15 defense and the Cowboys could really have a shot.
