I really enjoyed Mike Martz' insightful comments on the Cowboys. Three that stood out to me were:

Run Game

He said if he were building an offense he would get some road graders on offense and take advantage of these smallish LBs that the NFL is moving to. It reminded of the much maligned comment by MM that we need to run the ball more. Tyler Smith was a great start last season I like to run plays in slow motion with Tivo and he literally knocked Vita Vea to the ground a couple times in the wild card game. Based on the types of OL they've shown interest in during the draft process it looks like they're trying to add to that this year. He's raw but Atonio Mafi reminds me a little of Larry Allen. After getting pushed around by the 49ers defensive front in 2021 I'm glad to see them learning and adapting.
He's a big fan of Dak.
After the 2021 loss in the playoffs I was out on Dak but after listening to some of Mike's comments I've changed my thinking somewhat. When I looked at our skill positions compared to the teams that advanced we came in second to all of them. Other than Lamb and Pollard we really weren't that good and needed to add some talent. They obviously agreed and made a big move to get Cooks who has been very productive the last three seasons putting up similar stats to Amari Cooper but at fraction of the cost. Based on the players they let go and looked at in the drat I think they're planning to build on that.
The offense will be tightened up under MM.
This have been a pet peeve of mine, the offense has looked sloppy to me in the playoffs. Guys being where they're supposed to be, knowing their assignment on each play and being where they're supposed to be etc. Mike was confident that kind of thing will get cleaned up.

I liked @Risen Star comment about the draft. " Best sporting event of the year and there isn't a close second." For me it's kind of like football Christmas.

First Round Pick

I like our draft position and think there will be a really good player available that will come in and improve the team when we pick at 26. I think they'll stick to the board and take the best player available. CBS had a favorite players video and Rick Spielman listed 10 players 8 that could go in the first and 4 that could be there at 26:
Bryce Young
Will WItherspoon
Pete Skoronski
Lukas Van Ness
Jahmyr Gibbs
John Michael Schmitz
Will McDonald IV

Dalyan Henley
Tank Bigsby

His Sleepers were
Zavala OG
Herbig LB/Edge (very productive at Wisconsin)
Strange TE
Haener QB

Coaches involvement in the draft and roster building
Our drafts have been good under Will McClay but they may have gotten even better since MM and DQ were hired and that gets me excited about the future. Not just the drafts but the roster building. People here have been pounding the table for a good NT for a long time and they never signed one. I'm sure that DQ and MM had something to do with them bringing in Hankins last year and it payed dividends. Jerry even commented that last year during the draft MM kept nudging him and reminding him how we got pushed around up front by the 49ers and they ended up drafting Tyler Smith. I suspect that MM played a role in singing Cooks in FA to add a playmaker to the offense.

Offensive draft
I think this will be an offensive draft based on the departures of Zeke, Brown, Schultz, and McGovern and the Players we've shown interest in. I think that was by design and hope that's the case. I do hope that if a CeeDee Lamb type players falls to us at 26 offense of defense that they take him and from what Stephen said I think they would.

Zavala is one of my top pet cats. I think he could play day 1 if needed.
- I would like to draft him at #90 but I think he'll go earlier in the 3rd.

There are a few good powerful OGs in the mid/late rounds.

I noticed Curtis at the Senior Bowl 1-on-1s where he looked good.

Chandler Zavala 3rd (316 pounds)
Anthony Bradford 3rd/4th (332 pounds)
Sidy Sow 4th/5th (323 pounds)
Mcclendon Curtis 5th/6th (324 pounds)
Atonio Mafi 6th/7th (329 pounds, several listings say 339).

I'll bet against these players being 1st round picks:
Dalyan Henley
Tank Bigsby

I saw something about injuries with Zavala but don't know much about it. Have you seen anything?

Most definitely see an offensive heavy draft forthcoming, if their board plays out right. As you mentioned Zeke, Shultz, McGovern, Brown all departed, think they will look to upgrade those areas with better players.
It's possible, but it is also possible some highly-ranked defensive players could drop to 26. Several experts believe a top DE or CB could be available when the Cowboy pick.

I can see Dallas going DE, CB or WR in the 1st round. I'd prefer they address guard or TE in the 2nd or 3rd.

Certainly bpa is in play at 26 and could be a defensive player

Think Mayer is the favorite, but I have McDonald, Forbes, Kincaid ahead of him, but think they go before our pick
I don’t think Mayer will be the pick. I don’t think the Cowboys will have him as high as others.

I disagree, think he is their top TE on their board as they prefer a more well rounded TE. They are looking to upgrade their offense and he would be the start of it.

Hopefully no Van Ness.
I'm uneasy about a McCarthy offensive draft due to his decisions in picking coaches and him allegedly not being involved in this process for GB. Having said that I'm concerned he won't pick a good RB.

Jerry even commented that last year during the draft MM kept nudging him and reminding him how we got pushed around up front by the 49ers and they ended up drafting Tyler Smith. I suspect that MM played a role in singing Cooks in FA to add a playmaker to the offense.
I hope MM is on fire this draft, and I do like adding speed with Cooks...so it's a good start. It's just when hear about Mayer (slow) and think about Eddie Lacy (fat n slow) I get concerned. Because Stephen is talking about a complementary RB, which is code for banger RB.

I get the feeling that team boards are significantly different than the media boards and the draft order may differ significantly from what is expected.

May not be true but Broaddus is saying Kincaid over Mayer
