The defense did fail on stopping the Giants from kicking the game winning FG. And it did cost the team a W. But the real reason we lost is 4 reasons. Negative four. Can't do that esp against the Giants.
Romo is a superior QB. Not a great QB. He hasn't done anything of great importance. Not really. But he's put up great numbers. He's accurate. Quick. Improvisensational. (yeah, I made that up). He just needs to be a Troy Aikman type player and not a Dan Fouts.
It's foolish to talk about ditching Romo. I won't dignify that rubbish with another word.
It's time for Wade to do his thing. I'm surprised we have no sacks. Little pressure on Eli. They did pressure Leftwich. But no sacks.
Speaking of Wade. I think he goes away unless we go deep in the playoffs. I'm master of the obvious. But he's not going sooner that that if then.
Have to admire Jerry. He picked a great game for the opener. Too bad we stunk the place up.
We lost by two. Wow. The verb is LOST. Screw the adjectives.
The running game was a surprise despite my believing we would have success running. Still.......245yds. Kudos to the OL.
Does Flo have any sense? Is he slowing down that much? Or did he just have a stupid day? Still no sacks fellows and little pressure for 2 games. Gotta feel good about the OL.
Witten. What a pros pro.
Where is Marty B? This guy should be tearing it up. Not enough balls to go around I guess. Throw it to Marty, Tony.
Ogletree. I say give him a chance. He goes where he's supposed to be. But does he know the option routes and the right hot reads?
Ok, Tony. What are you going to do? Who the heck are you? A gunslinger??? Or a future HOF Dallas Cowboy QB. Yes, Tony is that good talent wise. He is still maturing. Slowly I guess. I hope. Personally, I think this will be Tony's year to prove himself. And I think we will win at least one playoff game and likely go deep. We have the talent. We just need to stay healthy.
Scandrick and Jenkins. They are going to be inconsistent folks. They are still too inexperienced. But they have the talent to play CB in this league. I hope Scandrick gets coached in tackling this week. The game film should embarrass him.
TNew. He didn't have the best day I've seen from him. He'll bounce back. He didn't get dumb or suddenly lose his talent. But my thoughts are they are suffering from a lack of pressure and good game planning by our opponents. My other question is the scheme. Is it contributing as well. It's too early to say. Two games is not a big enough sample to draw conclusions. The other team does play to win, too.
Is Carpenter going to be able to play the nickle well enough? Right now he doesn't seem to be hurting us but without game film that's hard to say with certainty. I don't hear his name being mentioned. That's good and bad. Let's hope he plays better than I think he does. Don't hold your breath.
Tony needs to look for Austin more IMO. And is RW getting open or is Tony just not throwing it his way. He needs to try to get away from Witten just a little and spread it around. He's getting enough protection to find the open man. I do think he needs to settle down some.
Garrett had a great day with the playcalling. Those cutbacks were designed and the OL was superb. Some very big holes.
Let's hope Barber is ready to go. I don't know if he'll start though. I'd like to see more of Felix and another RB in the same backfield. Along with Witten and Marty B. They can run out of that formation without a fullback and use one to decoy a LB out of the play. That will bring the safeties up and provide some audibles for Tony. Call me old fashioned but I'm a run first guy.
Can't wait until Monday.
