The one positive on defense I think we all can agree on thus far has been the rise of Aldon Smith. He has been a miracle thus far and will likely only keep getting better.

This leads me to the never ending saga of our very own Randy Gregory. I fully believe that Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory, when he returns, will be the pass rushing duo that we have yearned for for years. It’s not D Law and Griffin bc D Law (due to injury or whatever tf is going on with him) is simply not the pass rusher he was a coup years ago and Griffin looks like he got old in a hurry.

I think Randy Gregory is as natural a pass rusher as Aldon Smith is, and if we can just STAY AFLOAT until he gets back (and MAYBE sign Earl Thomas bc our safeties are EMBARRASSINGLY BAD), this team has a legit chance.

Let’s face it, once the offense cleans up and fully settles in, they are downright near unstoppable. It’s on the Defense and with a good pass rush, look out...

Well said, Smith and Gregory needs to be our Ends/OLBs

Totally agree.

Problem is our whole secondary struggles to cover the pass, including our LBs. Lots of holes to fix this season on defense.

I think they’re runny a hybrid 34 where DLaw is still a down DE and one olb opposite him. Otherwise it’s make the DEs into the 34 Type who never get any sacks

D Law played better yesterday. He is also being used poorly. They are having some serious growing pains with this scheme fit... and it is easy to understand how that can happen when your offseason is as weird as this one has been.

The passrush showed life yesterday, but our secondary has issues when healthy. When we are missing people to injury? We are a dumpster fire.

What we have now in Aldon Smith is a winner. I'm not sure we'll have in Randy until such time as he gets back and displays his wares for all to see. He's been on the outs with the NFL powers that be for so long that it might take quite some time to make up for lost time. Like the rest of us, I'm anxious to see what he has left to offer. Hopefully, it's something that will help this defense get another winner. It won't be long, now -- only a month or so. ;)
