Here’s a fun exercise to do every offseason. Rank current HCs. Until you put it down you don’t notice just how much better the AFC is at coaching. NFC has young guys like LaFleur, McVay and Shanahan that need to break through.

I put Vrabel and McDermott high for what they’ve done in usually tough places to have results. Vrabel is great at situational football and McDermott has taken a 51% passer at Wyoming and made him a star.

Mine:

1) Belichick
2) Reid
3) Harbaugh
4) Vrabel
5) McDermott
6) Tomlin
7) Arians
8) McVay
9) Shanahan
10) LaFleur
11) Payton
12) McCarthy
13) Staley
14) Carroll
15) Taylor
16) Cirriani
17) Rivera
18) Kingsbury
19) Campbell
20) Reich
21) Stefanski
22) Arthur Smith
23) Saleh
24) Rhule

All I care about is ours allowed us to have the most penalties in the league this year this equals failure
I'm someone who watches a lot of other teams, not just Cowboys games. My Sunday is always dedicated to watching the full slate... there's no way you're telling me the Cowboys are egregious this year when it comes to penalties compared to other teams. It's not an excuse but to say that we're officiated the same as 31 other clubs is asinine.

That being said, we need to draft smarter players who understand the above. They play for the star, they are playing against more than just the other team and we have to come to grips with this and have this as a mantra going into 2022. It's a little unfair to say Mccarthy started from nothing as he was given a mediocre team by Garrett but I will be looking to see a division title repeat and 2 playoff wins to consider next season as a building block.

Serious question - at what point will you stop blaming Garrett for present day problems? It seems like people cannot let go of this as a crutch.

He’s won a super bowl with Flacco and took another QB who can’t throw and made him MVP. He’s the epitome of scheming to your talent.
I agree he might be as good as there is at making do with what is on hand.

I watch other teams too and am fully aware that we are not treated the same if you check back you'll see that I started a thread stating that Jerry should go to the league office and complain about this before the playoffs so that there was some chance we would be treated fairly and take tape and evidence.
That said all the pre-snap penalties are not left for interpretation we jump off sides and are undisciplined hands to the face Randy Gregory tackling guys . We have a lot of flat out blatant penalties that can't be disputed. This needs to be corrected before you can ever expect any playoff success

Looks about right. Not much argument from me.

McDermott and Vrable could flip or stay the same depending on if one gets to the SB

I remember Demarcus Ware getting a lot of offsides penalties but the film showed a lot of those penalties were bogus. He was just so quick. Did Jerry ever do anything about it? I doubt it.

He didn’t make a QB an MVP, The QB made himself an MVP. NO way is he the 3rd best head coach in the league. That is farcical.

Lamar Jackson in a Kellen Moore offense would be Joe Webb or Tavaris Jackson. Harbaugh is a great utilizer of his talent. In 2 years he went from Joe Flacco in the Super Bowl to an MVP with Jackson.

Defenses are always dominant. The only thing that stopped them this year was crippling injuries

Number 3, his QB throwing the ball is worse than what we have. He just has better legs but see what that cost them though.

Top-3

1. McVay
2. Reid
3. McDermott

Belichick doesn’t make the list since he can’t win without Brady.

1 playoff win in 9 seasons without is Jason Garrett territory.

It’s similar to how Jerry Jones can’t win without Jimmy Johnson.

I hear all that (and won't argue the point) but some could honestly say Jimmy never won in the NFL without Jerry either.

BB won his first two SBs at least with Brady as nothing but a bus driver. Only idiots don't know that.
