DL - Lawrence, Gregory, Irving, Charlton, Armstrong, Crawford, Collins
LB - Lee, Smith, Vander-Esch, Thomas, Wilson
OL - Smith, Martin, Frederick, Collins, Williams
RB - Elliott, Smith, Scarbrough, Jackson, Olawale

For me:

1. OL
2. LB
3. RB
4. DL

You could make an argument for any one of those groups being the best, but I think OL will win that argument. Hard to argue against four first round talents with another second rounder thrown in there as well. Then, if everybody stays healthy, we might have the best LB corp in the entire NFL. Jaylon Smith at 100% is an all-pro. We also have arguably the best RB in Zeke with very solid depth behind him. The DL is still unproven, but the potential is scary, especially once Irving returns. Finally, if we do trade for Earl Thomas, DB would make this a top 5 list. Thomas, Awuzie, Jones, Lewis, Heath, Woods, Brown. There’s no shortage of talent, to say the least. By the time the 2019 NFL Draft ends, there might not be any glaring holes on this team.

And my apologies for forgetting ST. Bailey, Jones, Ladouceur. Just statistically one of the best kickers ever, a borderline Pro Bowl punter and a long snapper who’s never botched a snap.

I think each of these groups have value. The game is won in the trenches. Defense wins championships.

1) O-line with Looney.
2) D-line Each defensive group works off of the d-line. When the D-line can cause disruption to the passing game the DBs and LBs look like superstars.
3) RBs
4) ST - Game changing unit. The Cowboys winning and losing often comes down to Baily
5 WR

1. OL 2. LB 3. DL 4. RB (drop off after Zeke is like a cliff).

I am WAY higher on the CS position that most on here (obviously), they didn't even make the OPs list

If I am looking at healthy starters only, from the OP, I go with:

OL...RB (on zeke alone)...DL...LB (although I think DL and LB are extremely close in my rankings)...

If I add in all of the groups (healthy starters only), I go more like this:

OL...RB...CB...DL...LB...QB...WR...S...TE...

DL - Lawrence, Gregory, Irving, Charlton, Armstrong, Crawford, Collins
LB - Lee, Smith, Vander-Esch, Thomas, Wilson
OL - Smith, Martin, Frederick, Collins, Williams
RB - Elliott, Smith, Scarbrough, Jackson, Olawale

Interesting discussion Dylan. Are we ranking the position groups just within the Cowboys roster or against the whole league?

Clearly OL is our best position group on the team but I would have to say with the loss of T-Fred, the OL May no longer be top 3 in the league. Still a salty group but now maybe top 5-10 in league IMO. DL is probably next best in league at top 10.

I was thinking within the team, but against the league might be even more interesting.

CB by itself would be on the list, but since I consolidated DE & DT into DL, I thought it was only fair to consolidate CB and S into DB, which wouldn’t make my list unless we trade for ET.
