The following article was posted a little while ago but I still like the need and the position to take them.

Ranking the Cowboys' draft needs; What could take this team to the Super Bowl?

This Story is About...

By Matt Mosley , Special Contributor Contact Matt Mosley on Twitter: @mattmosley

Matt Mosley, contributor to SportsDayDFW.com and columnist for Texas Monthly, answered your questions in a live chat Tuesday. Here are some highlights:

How would you rank the Cowboys draft needs and how would you proceed if you were drafting for them?

Mosley: 1. Pass rush; 2. CB; 3. TE; 4. WR; 5. RT

I would do whatever it takes to address this pass-rush. If you believe that it kept you from two appearances in the NFC title game (2014/2016), then it's something that should be addressed immediately. The great news is that you got incredibly lucky and solved the QB question in the fourth round. That can't be taken for granted. You also need to replace Carr and Claiborne. I think the Cowboys would like to bring Mo back on a short-term deal, but I'm not sure what the market will be.

I don't agree with tight end. If we don't get Howard we shouldn't get any tight end honestly. Mayyyyyybe Njoku if he falls in round 2.

Fits my idea of needs. Just take BPA that fills as much of those positional needs as they fall to us.
We can't expect to draft the quality of last years draft but we might pull in some later round gems
like Brown, Tapper with out the injuries. I know Tapper isn't proven squat.

1 and 2 are must haves, 3-5 are nice to haves. I actually think there some interesting TE talent available on Day 3.

I'm hoping that Romo can get moved for an additional Day 2 pick.

so true. 1 and 2 are musts 3 through 5 nice. I would add SS and I think it is more of a need than 3 through 5.

I wouldn't say don't get one. Just don't get one in the first three rounds (unless we trade down and pick up an extra second or third). I wonder how far Butt will fall because of his injury?

That is illogical.

Howard or maybe Njoku? Then you are basically saying we have to spend a first round pick on a TE.

This is a deep class. You can get a Bucky Hodges, Jake Butt, Jordan Leggett, Gerald Everett, Michael Roberts or Evan Ingram in the second-third rounds, maybe even at the top of day three.

Then there are players like Jeremy Sprinkle, Eric Saubert, Adam Shaheen and Blake Jarwin that will be there from the fourth on.

If you are even thinking of a TE in the next two years, this is the draft to grab one.

2018 is not a good group. Strike when the iron is hot.
