Matchups are everything in the NFL. Outside of a few differences in how plays are called, pro offenses are largely the same, so figuring how to deploy personnel and create mismatches is really what separates the good offensive coaches from the bad ones.

Having a diverse group of skill players to mix and match obviously helps, which got us thinking: What are the most dangerous personnel groupings in the NFL? And we’re not just talking three-receiver packages — we’re looking at any combination of skill players a team can put on the field.

Before we get to our top-10, let’s take a quick look at how NFL teams identify particular personnel packages. Most coaching staffs use a double-digit system, with the first digit representing the number of running backs on the field, and the second representing the number of tight ends. From there, you can deduce how many receivers are involved in the play:

11 personnel = 1 RB, 1 TE, 3 WR
12 personnel = 1 RB, 2 TE, 2 WR
21 personnel = 2 RB, 1 TE, 2 WR
22 personnel = 2 RB, 2 TE, 1 WR

I just meant in general, not specific to this article.. and even though this one does rank them as #1, its' argument's substance is generic and unconvincing. The author is clearly not as scared shtless is he aughta be.

Article states:
"group of skill players. There are so many complimentary pieces here. Witten is the reliable third-down target and run blocker. Elliott is the workhorse who also contributes in the passing game. Bryant is the play-maker, Beasley is always open out of the slot and Williams offers big play ability. This group does everything at an elite level."

Ehh, ok.

I can't see a lot of 2 RB sets, only on short yardage (you know, after zeke gets 8 on first down)...not that Zeke will be in all of the time as DMac will spell him at times...

I can see, if they do the smart thing and keep Rod Smith, as the 2 RB's in that situation. Even though Smith is the FB for that play, he is RB converted to a FB. So he can block, or he can run. Kind of like once in a blue moon, the Moose got the carry instead of Emmitt. :D
Rod can even, as he has done before, line up as the FB and then split out as a receiver, probably in the slot position.
