Ranking the Top Edge Rushers for the Cowboys

I like how you are thinking. We need to improve our front seven. I might put linebacker ahead of cornerback in the second round as well. Let’s give Reggie Robinson a chance in the cover 3 scheme that Quinn will probably use. I really think this will be the wildest draft in NFL history.

Robinson is nothing more then a raw prospect at this juncture. You cannot rely on him for next season taking meaningful snaps.

I said give him a chance. He could impress. What do we have to lose.

there are alot of DEs in this class i like.
~ojulari,georgia
~rosseau,miami
~paye,michigan
~basham,purdue

~daelin hayes, notre dame...one of my favorite players in the draft...love his game.
~patrick johnson,tulane
~janarius robinson,fsu...love his size...very young..very raw

I think we are going to see another DE added, but not another 3 Tech DT.

Best case scenario he is our 5th CB, no way they don't add a veteran and a high draft pick at the position.
Actually if we fielded a team today he would be a starter. He made a special teams play last season by forcing a fumble so he seems to make things happen in that limited sample size. Reggie runs a 4.4 forty that was combine time and he is 6’1. He fits the profile of what Quinn and company like at corner. Wilson was the last safety on the roster last season and was a 6th round pick. Now he is actually our best safety. Put the guy on the field let’s see what we have.

Quinn’s scheme makes it easier to play younger players, but they cannot go into next season with Robinson as a starter. He is still in the developmental stage and must earn playing time with the defense

I was just listening to Mike Lombardi. He makes a good point Quinn’s defense is zone coverage and the key to the defense to be successful is actually the front 7. He thinks the Cowboys should go after defensive tackles and pass rushers. I have read from other posters that drafting a cornerback high would be stupid. I would not complain about the Georgia pass rusher in the first and Marvin Wilson in the second round. This draft is going to be wild.

CB is a premium / $ position and it is a need but our run D was the biggest weakness last year. We need a young DE opposite of Lawrence bc I'm not counting on Gregory, and someone like Ojulari would help in that regard and like Gregory he can fly to the outside to help us from getting gashed on those outside runs.

If we landed Ojulari in the 1st and stud DT in rounds 2 or 3 I'm in. Not sure what the CB FA market looks like.

I think in the cover 3 scheme we will be ok in the secondary. Let’s stop the run and rush the passer. I would try to bring Lewis back for cheap. I hate Chido he has to go. He is the Jaylon of our secondary.

The 4-3 was designed to keep the o-linemen off of the linebackers so they can make tackles. Without good d-linemen the entire premise of the 4-3 is severely compromised....

They have 2 vets under contract. Rashard Robinson and Canady. I dont think were signing a free agent corner. Free agent needs to focus on safety.

Ojalari does nothing for the run defense. Confusing post

Robinson has yet to take a single snap with the defense and Canady is more of a Goodwin, specials teams type who has to earn his roster spot. There is no chance they don't sign a starting caliber corner. Doesn't mean they will sign even a mid-tier, but they are going to cover themselves so they don't have to reach to fill a need. Dennard who played with the Falcons last year, could be the type they target. Could serve as a bridge starter or just improve depth at the position, I'm hoping a better signing then Worley.

Canady is a actual corner. He played many snaps for the Ravens. He's really jothing like Goodwin. And I'm talking Rashard robinson not reggie.

Whitt, our new pass game coordinator, defensive backs coach reportedly covets elite speed/size at the position. It's my understanding they will be running a lot of cover 3, but also some man concepts as well. They aren't just going to draft a big, slow corner cause they are playing more zone coverage. The draft class points to taking a early corner as there aren't any top end defensive line prospects. I would be very surprised if they take another high off-the ball linebacker.

Rashard Robinson is a jag. Canady is more of a slot only type of corner, I really don't think he will have a big role in our defense.

You think the Cowboys would pass on Surtain? People think he is a big slow corner. I would draft two off ball linebackers between the third and 5th rounds. LVE and Jaylon are not cutting it. I don’t think either will be on the team in 2022.
