You’ve piled pessimism upon pessimism in that post.Prediction - Zeke is a holdout next season which may lead to a trade. This could be his last game as a Cowboy.
Rod is not quick in the hole. That's what keeps him from being better, he lacks quickness and explosion.I actually LOVE the violence the Rod Smith brings when he runs. He is high energy and quick in the hole. He is decisive..and hits it hard. Hard runner to bring down and impossible to arm tackle. I think short term we wouldn't be losing anything if Zeke held out in 2019,long term, we dunno.
You've pretty much been proven wrong in your maintaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!As good as he is it arguably was a waste of resources to draft him #4 overall. Many of us maintained that all along (and continue to do so). No need to compound our mistake and throw good money after bad money by giving him a second contract.
I see enough quicks for him to start in a 4-5 game stretch and help us. SAYING THAT, I wouldn't want to go that route too long.Zeke is special obviously. Love the violence Smith brings. Longterm, where did that get BARBER? He lasted, what...3-4 years with that style? That's my point. Zeke is a complete cat if you will. Runs violent, yet knows how to avoid the catastrophic hit and preserve his body. The great ones do.He can also take it to the house...and at his size, that sets him apart.Rod is not quick in the hole. That's what keeps him from being better, he lacks quickness and explosion.
I like the kid, strictly a backup type, though.
Zeke is still a young pup too. He has an ability to avoid the bone crushing hits and actually dishes them out. Big elusive backs like him are hard to come by,especially ones that are the total package. He and Gurley and BARKLEY, PERIOD. That's it. Bell would be in that category, but him missing an entire year of ball..he may not ever be what he once was. I question his heart...love of the game.I am in the never group for paying running backs big money
Zeek is the exception you have to pay him
Zeke is priority #1 to re-sign. I'd sign Foles in the offseason, re-sign Zeke and try to get a deal done with Cooper and Lawrence.

No it doesn’t.His 2017 suspension probably still factors in on any negotiations this next year.
I disagree.
We've seen an offense heavily committed to running the football can make do with a quality back.
Zeke is an elite back, but if Dallas' offense is focused on running the football (scheme-wise) they can do without him if he wants big money.
This was proven wrong when they let Murray go. Sorry but elite players aren’t easily replaced. Randle is still looking for that meat Murray was leaving on the field.
And Murray wasn’t near the talent Zeke is.
This is going to be an unpopular opinion but I’d rather see Dak go then Zeke. I feel Dak’s production could be replaced easier as Zeke is an elite and special talent while Dak Prescott is a middle of the road QB.
I’m rooting for both but I feel Zeke is more important when it comes to how this offense is put together. Just my opinion.
Please, spare the pity party. There are several other professions that are high risk and get paid pennies on the dollar compared to what these guys make. The smart ones actually use their scholarships to get an education and a degree so they have something to fall back on in case something happens. You act as if we should feel bad for them because football is “all they know”.Yeah especially considering this league stands for “Not for Long.”
Unlike you and I, most of these individuals can’t go “sell insurance “ or be a banker at a local credit union. Football is all they know and they are putting their lives and CTE risks every Sunday for YOUR entertainment.
If you don’t like the fact that you don’t have the opportunities they do then go train and get drafted.
Otherwise, fall back like a bike with no kick stand.
