This is a crazy stat that will likely change over time but I tried looking up what I considered really good QB's at protecting the ball and compared them to Dak this year. He has a 9-1 TD to INT ratio. That is crazy good. I found a site showing the supposedly best of all time

http://www.footballdb.com/leaders/career-passing-tdintratio

It shows it as:
1. Aaron Rogers - 3.92
2. Russell Wilson - 3.25
3. Tom Brady - 2.94
* this is based on QB's with 1,500 pass attempts.

Dak only has 340 attempts so the law of averages says that his average will come down the more he plays but he is stil way beyond the best QB's in the game. To give us something to compare to he throw for 70 td's in college to 23 interceptions. That is a little over 3 as a ratio. So no matter how you look at it Dak is one of the best QB's in ball security.

In my opinion this is one of the best traits of a QB. As the experts always say, the team with the most turnovers tend to be the team that loses. This is a trait that I hope Dak never loses.

Great post -- It's a crystal clear indicator of one of the primary reasons why the Cowboys are 10-1 at this early stage of Dak's career.

It is something that I honestly can't remember seeing from a rookie QB. If he can stay on this pace we can have a deep run into the playoffs.

It is an amazing stat and I love this about Dak but it does come with a hidden cost in that he misses wide open WRs downfield because he looks them off very quickly. I'm not trying to be critical, just pointing it out as something I hope he improves at. I just wish he would hit plays like on Thanksgiving when Dez was wide open for a TD 50 yards downfield. We see things like that each week. I think he start to hit on them as he gets more experience.

I think those plays come with more experience. This is his rookie experience, where he protects the ball but sometime does not see the entire field yet. Give him 2-4 years and look out, far fewer missed kill shots.

I fully agree but I doubt it takes 2-4 years. He seems like a quick study and I'm sure he sees all the missed opportunities during film study. I think he may get more agressive before this season is over.

Good post, again Dak is the best QB the NFL has ever seen. The 4-12 team he inherited and took them to 10-1 in this fashion is as clear as evidence can be. The best is yet to come.

Maybe you can compare his td/ Int to the first season of a future HOF QB named nick foles?

Guy is playing very well but I would pump the brakes a little

nick foles 27-2. one of the greatest seasons i have ever witnessed. i thought he was going to be the next joe montana.

we have to hope this is not an aberrtation. both foles and cam are below average outside of those magical seasons.

need at least 3 seasons to find a players worth. unless you get a superbowl before then.

No, people with common sense are saying that he is playing great but he had to play great for 2-3 seasons before we can start comparing him to HOFs like Brady

Some people obviously cannot see greatness when it is right in front of their face. First it was preseason, then it was wait until they have more film on him, now the goal posts have been moved to the 2-3 year time frame...

It's ok, you are probably one of the "he will never play an NFL snap" crowd. Have fun continuing to be wrong.

That's the most under stated stat about this team, only 7 turnovers in total, Dak and the O do not turn the ball over much...so that certainly keeps the D from being put in a position to defend short fields to often...

jesus what were you watching that season? He had at least 6-7 interceptions called back that season because of flags. I called him a fraud that whole season, I knew he wasnt gonna be that good.

I'm not suggesting that he is a hall of famer. Just pointing out how impressive he has been so far.

From an offense where two rookies have had their hands on the ball for most of the plays. Unreal!

Not only the called back picks, he just didn't look that great to the eye. It was a strange season because despite that gaudy TD-int ratio, very few people were heaping all that much praise on him. Dak has looked much better this year than Foles did that year.
