He reworked it....just like I kept telling a certain someone. They just took the existing numbers, gave him the money in his salary as a signing bonus and split the hit by adding void years. It is standard practice.

Approx 3MM or so.

EDIT: Archer now said 4 years so more like 4MM a year. But remember, those void years accelerate when the non-void years are over.

Was wondering this myself. Of course, the void year portion of the deal all comes due at the end of the actual years so it still hits.

Four. He corrected it. The maximum is five void years.

In theory no. But restructuring can only be stretched out over 5 years, including the current year. With 4 voids added, setting up to be restructured again next year

Thanks, thats what I always thought was the max was either 4 or 5 year....seeing 6 threw me off.

Not nearly as bad as the Mr Bonilla deal with the Mets...he negotiated a settlement whereby the Mets would pay him $1.19 million on July 1 every year from 2011 through 2035,

Gotta love it when a brain trust is in charge...1.19 million dollars a year for 25 years...and as a buyout I might add.
